Jhon Duran was shown a straight red card on Boxing Day after appearing to plant his boot in the back of Fabian Schar, much to the Aston Villa forward’s confusion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jhon Duran Red Card Leaves Aston Villa Striker Dumfounded<\/h2>\n

In-form Aston Villa marksman Jhon Duran<\/a> was shown a straight red card by referee Anthony Taylor, after appearing to stamp on Fabian Schar.<\/p>\n

The Newcastle centre-back had collapsed under a tussle with the Villa man – who was on the hunt for an equaliser after Antony Gordon’s second-minute goal – and Schar was prone before Duran also fell under the weight of the challenge.<\/p>\n

As the Colombian scrambled to plant his feet, his studs scraped the backside of Schar who writhed around in pain in the aftermath.<\/p>\n

Duran quickly held his hands up – as if to say it was completely accidental – although the surrounding Newcastle players and a fervent St James’ crowd were adamant it was an illegal action.<\/p>\n

Slow-motion replays reveal little else Duran could have done to regain his balance, with Schar collapsing directly beneath him.<\/p>\n
