Ange Postecoglou insists he is proud of his Tottenham players despite suffering yet another defeat at home after being beaten 2-1 by Newcastle<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

An injury-ravaged Spurs<\/a> side got off to the perfect start against the Magpies. Dominic Solanke brilliantly headed in a Pedro Porro cross inside four minutes but saw their lead cancelled out soon after.<\/p>\n

Anthony Gordon pulled things level in the seventh minute but it didn’t come without some controversy. In the build up to the goal, Joelinton intercepted a Lucas Bergvall pass after the ball richoted off the Brazilian’s hand. Moments later, Gordon tucked the ball into the net and the goal was given following a check from VAR.<\/p>\n

Alexander Isak<\/a> then made it 2-1 before the break, leaving Spurs with it all to do to get something out of the game.<\/p>\n

Tottenham<\/a> were without four out of their five first-choice backline players due to injury. First-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario remains out for the foreseeable, while Fraser Forster was absent due to illness.<\/p>\n

That saw Brandon Austin step in to make his Spurs debut in between the sticks. Meanwhile, Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray deputised for Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven who are both still out injured.<\/p>\n

With that being said, Spurs were the much better side in the second half against Newcastle<\/a>. However, despite all their possession and chances, Spurs were unable to get anything out of the game.<\/p>\n

Ange Postecoglou: Spurs Deserved To Win The Game<\/h2>\n

The result saw Spurs condemned to their 10th defeat of the Premier League<\/a> season, heaping more pressure on Ange Postecoglou.<\/p>\n

However, the manner of the defeat and the circumstances around the availability of his players saw the Australian take a defiant view on the football<\/a> result.<\/p>\n

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game<\/a>, Postecoglou insisted his Spurs side deserved to win and he was proud of his side.<\/p>\n

When asked for his thoughts, Postecoglou said: “Hugely proud of the players. Outstanding considering the situation we’re in now.<\/p>\n
