Amad Diallo’s Late Strike Rescues A Point In Topsy-Turvy Anfield Thriller<\/h2>\n

There were few chances to separate the two sides in the first half. Rasmus Hojlund was denied by Alisson when through on goal while Cody Gakpo<\/a> prodded a shot across the face of goal just wide in the pick of the chances from either side.<\/p>\n

However, it took only six minutes for the deadlock to be broken in the second half \u2013 and it came from a very unlikely source. With Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> out of position, Bruno Fernandes brilliantly slipped Lisandro Martinez through in on goal. From a tight angle, the Argentine defender then unleashed a thunderbolt into the roof of Alisson’s net.<\/p>\n

United’s lead only lasted a matter of minutes and it took an equally impressive finish for Liverpool to pull level. Leaving Matthjis De Ligt for dead, Gakpo manoeuvred the football<\/a> onto his right foot but curling the ball in the top far corner.<\/p>\n

Ten minutes later, the game was flipped on its head. It was again De Ligt who was at fault for another Liverpool goal after being adjudged to have handled in the box. While Michael Oliver initially waved away calls for handball, VAR told the match official to check it over again.<\/p>\n

After a check at the pitchside monitor, Oliver awarded the hosts a spot-kick. Mohamed Salah then converted to put Liverpool ahead. It’s the Egyptian’s 13th goal in 11 league games against United, while his strike saw him draw level with Thierry Henry in the Premier League’s all-time top scorer list with 175 goals.<\/p>\n

There was another twist in the tale an Anfield. With just over 10 minutes left, United got themselves back in it. And it was Amad Diallo who found the back of the net, sweeping in a low cross courtesy of Alejandro Garnacho.<\/p>\n

With 25 seconds left, United had the chance to win it. Joshua Zirkzee was put through in on goal who then squared it to Harry Maguire. But with one of the last kicks of the game, Maguire blazed his shot over. Both sides settled for a point in the icy rain at Anfield, settling a frantic affair on Merseyside.<\/p>\n
