Everton’s FA Cup third-round tie against Peterborough will go ahead as planned this evening after a safety meeting cleared the match to take place.<\/strong><\/p>\n

An Arctic blast has gripped much of the country this week, with the North West facing particularly wintery conditions.<\/p>\n

But despite the snow and ice on Merseyside, Everton’s<\/a> game with Peterborough is on and will happen as planned.<\/p>\n

The club held a meeting with local authorities at 1pm on Thursday, and determined it was safe.<\/p>\n

Tonight’s game at Goodison Park will kick off at 19:45, after fears of postponement were unfounded.<\/p>\n

Everton Taking Every Measure To Ensure Safety<\/h2>\n

Following the safety meeting, Everton released a statement confirming the match is going ahead, and reassuring fans that they are taking extra steps to ensure everyone’s safety.<\/p>\n

The statement read: “Everton\u2019s third-round FA Cup tie with Peterborough United will go ahead as planned this evening (kick-off 7:45pm).<\/p>\n

“A safety meeting was held this afternoon to assess the weather and travel conditions for fans attending the tie, which confirmed the game can go ahead.<\/p>\n

“Everton Staff and a crew from Liverpool City Council\u2019s Streetscene Services team have been treating the roads and footpaths around the stadium since the morning to ensure they are as safe as possible for supporters accessing the stadium.<\/p>\n

“Anyone attending Goodison Park is advised to prepare for the cold conditions, take care and to allow extra time that may be needed in travelling to the game, including being aware of any advice and weather warnings that may be in place in areas fans are travelling from.<\/p>\n

It’s not the first time weather has threatened to postpone an Everton game this season.<\/p>\n

In December, Storm Darragh’s extreme wind and rain forced the Merseyside derby against Liverpool<\/a> to be rearranged.<\/p>\n

However, on this occasion, the conditions have been deemed safe enough for the match to go ahead as scheduled.<\/p>\n
