Gary Neville has urged Chelsea to part ways with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez following his latest costly mistake in the Blues’ 3-1 defeat to Manchester City. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The former Manchester United<\/a> defender believes Sanchez’s repeated errors are hindering Chelsea’s progress and that manager Enzo Maresca must address the issue if he wants to build a title-contending squad.<\/p>\n

During Saturday\u2019s clash at the Etihad Stadium, Sanchez made a rash decision to rush off his line, allowing Erling Haaland to slot home an easy goal in the second half.<\/p>\n

The mistake handed City a crucial 2-1 lead with 22 minutes remaining before Phil Foden’s late goal sealed the victory for the home side.<\/p>\n

Neville, who was commentating on the match for Sky Sports<\/em>, was quick to criticise the Chelsea shot-stopper, saying, “What is the goalkeeper doing? Why is he there? Such a poor, poor decision.”<\/em><\/p>\n

He doubled down on his critique during the Gary Neville Podcast<\/a>, stating that Sanchez’s poor positioning was a turning point in the game.<\/p>\n

Recurring Mistakes Raise Concerns<\/h3>\n

Sanchez has been under scrutiny for several high-profile errors this season, most recently in Chelsea\u2019s 2-1 win over Wolves at Stamford Bridge, where he was at fault for the visitors\u2019 goal.<\/p>\n

Neville believes these persistent mistakes prove that Sanchez is not reliable enough for a club with Chelsea\u2019s ambitions.<\/p>\n

“We have to talk about the goalkeeper. That wouldn\u2019t have been a goal if he wasn\u2019t 25 yards off his line,”<\/em> Neville added.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s too important a position, and I think Chelsea at this point in time are going to have to look at it. He\u2019s making far too many errors week in, week out.”<\/em><\/p>\n
