Here is the latest Scotland Six Nations squad update ahead of the opening weekend, where Gregor Townsend’s side host Italy at Murrayfield.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scotland’s clash with the Azzurri kicks off at 2:15pm in Edinburgh on Saturday. It follows Friday night’s floodlit curtain-raiser in Paris, with France<\/a> taking on Wales<\/a> at the Stade de France.<\/p>\n

England<\/a> travel to Dublin to take on Ireland<\/a> in the final fixture of the weekend.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Scotland’s opener, head coach Townsend has called in five new faces, who link up with the squad this week.<\/p>\n

Euan Ferrie, Cameron Henderson, Ewan Johnson, Alexander Masibaka and Ollie Smith have all come into camp.<\/p>\n

Masibaka’s inclusion has raised eyebrows, with the back-rower playing in the French second-tier Pro D2 this season.<\/p>\n

Australian-born but Scottish-qualified through his mother, he comes in for Bath’s Josh Bayliss, who injured his groin at the weekend against Sale Sharks.<\/p>\n

Having previously trained with the national team, Glasgow forward Euan Ferrie will be hoping to earn his first cap.<\/p>\n

Cameron Henderson did so in 2023, but spent much of 2024 injured with a knee issue. He has since returned to the Leicester Tigers squad and earned an international recall.<\/p>\n

Another man plying his trade in France, Oyonnax lock Ewan Johnson comes back into the squad after making his senior debut against Portugal in the Autumn.<\/p>\n

Ollie Smith made his comeback from a long injury layoff for Glasgow at the weekend, and links straight back up with the squad.<\/p>\n

In a major blow, newly-appointed skipper Sione Tuipulotu has been ruled out of the entire Six Nations after tearing a pectoral muscle in training.<\/p>\n

As a result, Bath fly-half Finn Russell and Glasgow flanker Rory Darge have been named co-captains.<\/p>\n

Along with Ferrie and Masibaka, Glasgow’s Jack Mann and Saracens’ Fergus Burke are the other uncapped members of the squad.<\/p>\n
