The Bernard Tomic match fixing saga took a new twist after the player himself recently broke his silence on the claims.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tomic is a former world No 17 and got as far as the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2011 during his prime. Since then, the 32-year-old’s tennis<\/a> career has taken a turn for the worse.<\/p>\n

Currently, Tomic is ranked No 220 in the world but he does have aspirations to get back into the top 100. However, the two-time junior Grand Slam winner has some pressing legal issues to attend to first.<\/p>\n

The player himself is set to take on Adam Walton in the quarter-final of the Brisbane Challenger on January 31. A tournament he’ll be hoping to go all the way in to help rebuild his reputation.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, reports re-emerged about Tomic’s involvement in a match fixing scandal. Something of which the Stuttgart-born star is remaining tight-lipped on.<\/p>\n

Bernard Tomic Match Fixing Claims<\/h2>\n

“I\u2019m not gonna comment about that<\/em>,” Tomic explained when quizzed by the authorities regarding the two matches in questions. One occurred in the Australian Open qualifiers in 2022. The other was in Turkey a year previous.<\/p>\n

“Tennis keeps me alive, keeps me sane, gives me something to do. Without tennis, you lose your purpose<\/em>.<\/p>\n

“To finish the year in the top 100 would be great. We\u2019ll see how we go. A lot has changed in tennis – my expectations can\u2019t be too high. I have to be realistic<\/em>,” Tomic explained.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, Tomic is in the clear as the NSW police weren’t able to find any wrongdoings for the two matches in question. Both of which Tomic lost.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has reportedly conducted it’s own review into the claims. Again, no evidence was found that would warrant charges being brought against Tomic.<\/p>\n
