The Italians were in complete control from minute one to eighty as they recorded a convincing win over Wales.<\/p>\n

Ange Capuozzo’s diving score gave the Azzurri the lead early on, and they held it until the final whistle.<\/p>\n

The scoreline flattered Wales<\/a>, with an Aaron Wainwright score from a driving maul and a penalty try late on earning the visitors a losing bonus point.<\/p>\n

But with Italy reduced to 13 players through yellow cards, this was hardly a sign of a significant Welsh fightback.<\/p>\n

Italy<\/a> opened the scoring through Capuozzo, who raced onto Paulo Garbisi’s deft grubber after the fly-half dummied and accelerated into space down the shot side.<\/p>\n

With the score 16-3 to Italy, Wales came close to reducing the deficit. Josh Adams should have scored, but couldn’t gather Tomos Williams’ kick into the in-goal area.<\/p>\n

There were few try-scoring opportunities in the game for either side, but Italy took theirs when it mattered.<\/p>\n

Such was the hosts’ dominance that they still won despite missing three penalty kicks in seven minutes as Wales committed numerous infringements.<\/p>\n

Wales finally got over the whitewash in the closing stages, but their two late scores came well after the game was over as a contest.<\/p>\n

Italy held on to secure a first home victory over Wales in 18 years as the rain poured down in Rome.<\/p>\n
