Manchester City Player Ratings<\/b><\/h3>\n

Ederson – 7<\/b><\/p>\n

Not only did the Brazilian make some vital saves to help City pick up three points, but Ederson also contributed with an incredible assist for the opening goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rico Lewis – 6<\/b><\/p>\n

Not a spectacular performance from the City starlet by any means, but Lewis was a calming presence throughout and rarely misplaced a pass.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abdukodir Khusanov – 6.5<\/b><\/p>\n

After a nightmare debut against Chelsea, the 20-year-old appeared to be more comfortable against Newcastle and helped keep Alexander Isak quiet.<\/span><\/p>\n

John Stones – 7<\/b><\/p>\n

City fans will be pleased to see Stones making consecutive appearances and the Englishman was solid for 90 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jo\u0161ko Gvardiol – 6<\/b><\/p>\n

Was key in halting a Newcastle attack that has caused problems throughout the campaign and almost registered an assist in the opening 20 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nico Gonzalez – 7.5<\/b><\/p>\n

Making his Premier League debut against one of the most physical and relentless midfield threes should not be easy – but Nico Gonzalez made it look simple and looks like the ideal Rodri understudy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0130lkay G\u00fcndo\u011fan – 7<\/b><\/p>\n

Nico Gonzalez did not do it alone however, as Ilkay Gundogan showed signs of the player that helped City win the treble back in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

Savinho – 7.5<\/b><\/p>\n

The Brazilian pulled out all the party-tricks in this one and showed flashes of brilliance, while also contributing with an assist.<\/span><\/p>\n

Omar Marmoush – 10<\/b><\/p>\n

After failing to score in his first four appearances across all competitions, Marmoush delivered in style by scoring a superb hat-trick to guide his side to victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Phil Foden – 6.5<\/b><\/p>\n

A surprisingly quiet afternoon from the 2023\/24 PFA Player of the Year, created some chances but never really got into the match.<\/span><\/p>\n

Erling Haaland – 6<\/b><\/p>\n

It\u2019s rare that a Manchester City player scores a hat-trick and their name is not Erling Haaland<\/a>, but the Norwegian was out shined by Marmoush – with Haaland offering very little throughout.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jeremy Doku (On for Omar Marmoush 76′) – 6<\/em><\/p>\n

James McAtee (On for Phil Foden 76′) – 7.5<\/em><\/p>\n

Nico O’Reilly (On for Josko Gvardiol 88′) – 5<\/em><\/p>\n

Mateo Kovacic (On for Ilkay Gundogan 88′) – 5<\/em><\/p>\n

Matheus Nunes (On for Erling Haaland 88′) – 5<\/em><\/p>\n

Newcastle Player Ratings<\/b><\/h3>\n

Martin D\u00fabravka – 5<\/b><\/p>\n

There was not a lot that Martin Dubravka could have done for City\u2019s goals, however, conceding this number of goals is never a good sign for a goalie\u2019s performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kieran Trippier – 4<\/b><\/p>\n

The former Manchester City player struggled to deal with City\u2019s threat on the flanks and was substituted at half time – Trippier was also out muscled heavily by Marmoush for the opening goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fabian Sch\u00e4r – 5<\/b><\/p>\n

As a whole the Newcastle defence struggled at the Etihad and were blown away in the opening 45, as Fabian Schar struggled to deal with City\u2019s pace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dan Burn – 5<\/b><\/p>\n

Similarly to his defensive partner, Burn struggled with Manchester City\u2019s dynamism in attack and could only foul the likes of Foden, Marmoush and Savinho,<\/span><\/p>\n

Lewis Hall – 5.5<\/b><\/p>\n

Continued to run up and down the left hand side for 90 minutes but failed to deliver anything of note and was fairly timid in defence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bruno Guimar\u00e3es – 6<\/b><\/p>\n

We expect a solid performance from Bruno Guimaraes due to his consistency in a Newcastle shirt, however, the Brazilian was off the pace today and sloppy on the ball.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sandro Tonali – 6<\/b><\/p>\n

We could say the same thing about Tonali as we did about Guimaraes, an uncharacteristically poor performance from the Italian.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joe Willock – 5<\/b><\/p>\n

Being taken off at half time is a disappointing reality for any player but Willock could have no complaints as he was a passenger at times.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jacob Murphy – 5.5<\/b><\/p>\n

Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have received the majority of praise for Newcastle\u2019s attacking threat but Murphy has been a pivotal member throughout the season. However the winger could not get going against City and failed to contribute much in attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexander Isak – 5<\/b><\/p>\n

Newcastle played and Alexander Isak<\/a> did not score? A strangely quiet afternoon for the Swede and highlights how his performance level makes or breaks Newcastle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anthony Gordon – 5<\/b><\/p>\n

Gordon huffed and puffed to find a breakthrough, but the speedster could not make his mark and was well tamed by the City defence.<\/span><\/p>\n
