    Anglers Crag Looking To Become The First ‘Back-to-Back’<\/em> Eider Chase Winner Since The 1960’s<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    12 months ago, the Brian Ellison-trained Anglers Crag<\/strong> was a gutsy neck winner of the 2024 Eider Chase and he’s expected to be back to defend his Newcastle crown this Saturday.<\/p>\n

    Now aged 10, Anglers Crag is rated 8lbs higher than last year and also hasn’t won a race since (4 runs), so will need to bounce back.<\/p>\n

    On a plus, despite his age, he’s fairly lightly-raced with just 12 runs over fences (4 wins) and should strip fitter for a recent 4th in the Edinburgh National at Musselburgh earlier this month.<\/p>\n

    Anglers Crag, however, will also be looking to become the first Eider Chase back-to-back winner since a horse called Highland Wedding won the race three times between 1966 and 1969 – with the 1968 running called off due to snow.<\/p>\n

    Last year’s Eider Chase second Prince Des Fichaux<\/strong>, the fourth Gold Clermont.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    While Major Dundee<\/strong> also ran in the race 12 months ago – he was still in with a shout until unseating two fences from home.<\/p>\n
