{"id":36396,"date":"2025-02-21T11:55:06","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T11:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/?p=36396"},"modified":"2025-02-21T11:55:06","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T11:55:06","slug":"stephen-bunting-speaks-out-after-disastrous-start-to-pdc-premier-league-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/stephen-bunting-speaks-out-after-disastrous-start-to-pdc-premier-league-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Stephen Bunting Speaks Out After Disastrous Start To PDC Premier League Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Stephen Bunting has made his thoughts very clear after another disappointing night in the PDC Premier League 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Stephen Bunting Speaks Out After Poor Start To Premier League<\/h2>\n<p>The fan favourite is making his first appearance at the PDC Premier League in 10 years after an impressive performance in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Putting in stellar performances on the oche, as well as growing a mass following on social media has put the &#8216;Bullet&#8217; in the conversation for the most popular player in the world.<\/p>\n<p>However, his opening three matches in the Premier League have not gone according to plan, losing in the opening match on each occasion.<\/p>\n<p>During night one, the world No.5 was beaten 6-4 by Rob Cross after averaging 94.03 and only hitting 4\/13 when attempting to checkout.<\/p>\n<p>Bunting followed this up with another defeat during night two, as he was thrashed 6-1 by Michael van Gerwen and averaging 93.91.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, the 39-year-old darts star was beaten 6-4 by Luke Humphries where he managed to break an average of 100 for the first time with 100.49.<\/p>\n<p>Following another disappointing exit in the competition, Bunting decided to speak out on social media about his performance and highlighted how it is a &#8216;marathon and not a sprint&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Bunting said: <em>&#8220;Not the start I had dreamt about but what an absolute pleasure to be playing in front of these fantastic crowds.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Still a few nerves and the emotion of the walk on will fade over the weeks. It\u2019s a marathon not a sprint. <\/em><em>Really looking forward to Exeter next week.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Things will not get any easier for the British darts player, as Bunting faces the current Premier League title holder, Luke Littler, in the opening match of night four.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The teenager has made a decent start to his title defence, winning the entirety of night two, but was beaten 6-4 by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/premier-league-darts-night-3-result\/\">Gerwyn Price<\/a> in his most recent appearance.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stephen Bunting has made his thoughts very clear after another disappointing night in the PDC Premier League 2025.
