James Trafford Replacements<\/h2>\n

If the latest James Trafford transfer news<\/a> is to be believed, the Burnley star looks set for a switch to Newcastle this summer.<\/p>\n

On the weekend, the Clarets named their price for their goalkeeping sensation. A modest fee of \u00a330 million has been touted which will surely see him leave Turf Moor at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Whether or not Scott Parker’s men are playing Premier League<\/a> football in 2025\/26. A switch to Eddie Howe’s side will surely be one that tempts Trafford.<\/p>\n

Especially as he nearly moved to Tyneside in 2024. On that occasion, a deal couldn’t be struck but the Geordie Boys are expected to get their man this time.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, which goalkeepers would make the perfect James Trafford replacement? Here at SportsCasting<\/em><\/a>, we’ve identified four candidates.<\/p>\n

Paul Nardi – QPR<\/h2>\n

Paul Nardi has been ever-present for EFL Championship outfit QPR this season. Proving to be one of the Super Hoops best players so far in 2024\/25.<\/p>\n

Nardi has kept eight clean sheets across 34 appearances and has been instrumental in the West Londoners surge up the table after a disappointing start to the campaign.<\/p>\n

The former France U21 star has a wealth of experience having represented the likes of Lorient and Gent in the Belgian Pro League. The 30-year-old also has Europa League football under his belt.<\/p>\n

A brilliant shot-stopper with an array of fine attributes, Nardi is definately a goalkeeper that Burnley should be considering as a James Trafford replacement.<\/p>\n

Nick Pope – Newcastle<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Granted, this would be unlikely but re-signing Nick Pope is not out of the realms of possibility. Especially if Burnley were to return to the top-flight next season.<\/p>\n

Pope has been a brilliant servant at Newcastle but if Trafford was to join the Magpies, having Pope go the other way would be a smart move. Especially as he won’t want to play second fiddle to the England U21 man.<\/p>\n

At 32, Pope is very much in his prime but injuries have hampered him in recent times. He also has 10 international caps to his name and naturally, knows the Clarets inside out.<\/p>\n

It would be considered something of a coup if the Lancashire side could pull this off.<\/p>\n

Sam Tickle – Wigan<\/h2>\n

In January, Wigan reportedly turned down a sizeable offer from EFL Championship side Preston for star goalkeeper Sam Tickle.<\/p>\n

The 6 ft 2 in shot-stopper has also been rumoured with a move to the Premier League. However, he remains a Latics player and the club will likely command upwards of \u00a35 million for the 22-year-old.<\/p>\n

Tickle has one England U21 cap and looks destined for a brilliant career. A switch to Burnley would prove attractive to the former Pilkington man who has 12 clean sheets to his name this season.<\/p>\n

He certainly has similar attributes to Trafford which is exactly what manager Scott Parker desires.<\/p>\n

Aaron Ramsdale – Southampton<\/h2>\n

\"Aaron<\/p>\n

Former Arsenal and current Southampton goalie Aaron Ramsdale would make an ideal James Trafford replacement at Burnley. Even though he has suffered at St Mary’s this season.<\/p>\n

His switch to the Saints hasn’t paid dividends owing to the club’s top-flight struggles. However, Ramsdale has been one of the happier notes in an otherwise awful campaign for Ivan Juric’s side.<\/p>\n

Similar to Pope, a lot will hinge on what league the Clarets are playing in next season. It seems certain Ramsdale will leave Southampton and will entertain plenty of interest from top-flight clubs.<\/p>\n
