Started well but, like most of his teammates, was powerless to stop the French onslaught. Can’t be blamed for<\/p>\n

14 \u2013 Ange Capuozzo: 4<\/h4>\n

A few flashes of his usual brilliance but he was torn to bits defensively, along with the rest of the Italian outside backs.<\/p>\n

13 \u2013 Juan Ignacio Brex: 6<\/h4>\n

Scored a lovely try to keep Italy<\/a> in touch before the floodgates opened. A valiant display from one of the Azzurri’s finest players.<\/p>\n

12 \u2013 Tommaso Menoncello: 6<\/h4>\n

Like his centre partner, scored a beautiful try and did not deserve to be on the end of such a hammering. The Italian midfield is by far their best combination.<\/p>\n

11 \u2013 Simone Gesi: 5<\/h4>\n

There’s clearly talent in the young lad, but he was utterly outclassed by his opposite number.<\/p>\n

10 \u2013 Paolo Garbisi: 5<\/h4>\n

The third Italian try scorer, he looked excellent before half time, but faded badly as the game wore on.<\/p>\n

Kicked well and was a positive influence in the early exchanges. Had zero platform to work with as France<\/a> gained the ascendency.<\/p>\n

Nullified by the French defence and couldn’t bring the dent he has shown in previous rounds.<\/p>\n

Bags of effort and heart, but simply outshone by the opposition despite trying his upmost to prevent the hammering.<\/p>\n

Struggled to match the physicality and intensity he came up against. Couldn’t impact the game like he usually does.<\/p>\n

Lovely offload for Brex’s try and ran the Italian lineout well. Did all he could but came up short.<\/p>\n

Beaten up physically, as were most of the Italian pack. A very difficult day for the lock.<\/p>\n

Not enough scrums for him to have his usual impact, and couldn’t keep pace with the speed of ball France played with.<\/p>\n

Got through a mountain of work and missed just one tackle all game. One of Italy’s top performers – though the bar is extremely low.<\/p>\n
