Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has hit back at club legend Wayne Rooney after the former striker called his ambitions for the Red Devils “naive.” <\/strong><\/p>\n

Amorim, whose side suffered a disappointing FA Cup exit to Fulham<\/a> in a fifth-round penalty shootout, took aim at Rooney\u2019s recent managerial struggles in response.<\/p>\n

Wayne Rooney Questions Amorim\u2019s Ambition<\/h2>\n

Rooney, a five-time Premier League<\/a> winner with United, was on punditry duty for BBC when he dismissed Amorim\u2019s suggestion that the club\u2019s long-term goal is to win the league title.<\/p>\n

With United languishing in 14th place in the Premier League<\/strong>, Rooney was skeptical of Amorim\u2019s vision, stating, “I think it\u2019s a little naive to say they\u2019re looking to win the Premier League because from where they are now, they\u2019re a long way off that.”<\/em><\/p>\n
