Eddie Hearn Lists Five Realistic Opponents For Anthony Joshua Next<\/h2>\n

Matchroom Boxing kingpin Eddie Hearn as listed five potential opponents for Anthony Joshua<\/a> upon his ring return.<\/p>\n

Joshua hasn’t fought since last September, where he was knocked out in five rounds by fellow Brit Daniel Dubois<\/a> in their IBF World Heavyweight Title fight. Now, ‘AJ’ is eying a return to the ring, with his promoter Eddie Hearn<\/a> on the lookout for a realistic fight next for Joshua.<\/p>\n

At 35-years-old, there is no time for Joshua to rebuild and take less meaningful fights at this stage of his career. His aim is still to become a three-time world heavyweight champion, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest heavyweight’s of this era.<\/p>\n

To become king again, ‘AJ’ will have to beat at least a couple of accomplished fighters at the top of the division. As one of the biggest names in world boxing<\/a> and a huge money making machine, fighters will be queuing up for a chance to fight Joshua this summer.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, Eddie Hearn has listed five potential fighters who are in the running to be in the opposite corner upon Anthony Joshua<\/a>‘s ring return. In a recent interview with talkSPORT<\/em>, Hearn revealed five names who he can realistically see ‘AJ’ fighting next:<\/p>\n

“Daniel Dubois<\/a> still [is the frontrunner]. In an ideal world, he will fight Tyson Fury<\/a>, if not Dubois,”<\/em> Hearn said.<\/p>\n

“There is also Joseph Parker<\/a>, who I think would be a great fight, there is Agit Kabayel and Deontay Wilder, obviously [His Excellency Turki Alalshikh<\/a>] has stated he would love to see that fight.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I guess the Martin Bakole<\/a> fight is still there, but he would probably get criticised if he fought Bakole, so less likely.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Who Is In The Running To Fight ‘AJ’ Next?<\/h3>\n

Daniel Dubois<\/h4>\n

Eddie Hearn has admitted that Daniel Dubois<\/a> remains the frontrunner for Anthony Joshua’s next fight. Should this be the case, the bout will of course be a rematch following their heavyweight world title clash last September.<\/p>\n

Dubois won in conclusive fashion with a fifth round knockout, meaning that if a rematch was to happen next ‘DDD’ would undoubtedly be the favourite with the best boxing betting sites in the UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Although Hearn says this fight is the frontrunner, it seems more likely that Dubois will fight Oleksandr Usyk<\/a> in an undisputed clash or Joseph Parker<\/a>, who Dubois was meant to fight on February 22nd on Beterbiev vs Bivol<\/a> rematch card.<\/p>\n

Tyson Fury<\/h4>\n

Another potential match-up for Anthony Joshua next is of course the Tyson Fury<\/a> clash. However, this again seems unlikely given that ‘The Gypsy King’ announced his retirement from boxing following his back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This fight all depends on whether Fury remains retired or not. If he does return to the ring, then Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury<\/a> is a fight that simply must happen and remains the single biggest fight in British boxing today. Period.<\/p>\n

Joseph Parker<\/h4>\n

A rematch between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker<\/a> is another potential fight according to Eddie Hearn. Joshua of course beat Parker by unanimous decision back in 2016, and a rematch could be a realistic fight for both nine years on.<\/p>\n

That being said, Team Parker are chasing the Daniel Dubois<\/a> fight and fully deserve to fight for a version of the world heavyweight title. This again seems like an unlikely next fight for ‘AJ’, but don’t rule it out from happening down the line.<\/p>\n

Agit Kabayel<\/h4>\n

Another potential opponent for Anthony Joshua could be former sparring partner and the in-form Agit Kabayel. Kabayel has beaten Zhilei Zhang<\/a>, Frank Sanchez and Arslanbek Makhmudov in his last three fights, all via bodyshot knockouts.<\/p>\n

This fight seems like it could happen next, and would be a tough one to call. The best sports betting apps would likely see this fight as a genuine 50\/50.<\/p>\n

Deontay Wilder<\/h4>\n

Last but not least, another potential Anthony Joshua<\/a> opponent for his comeback fight in the summer could be a showdown with Deontay Wilder.<\/p>\n

Joshua vs Wilder is a fight that has been talked about for the best part of a decade, but never quite came to fruition. Wilder seems well past his best now and damaged goods, but it is still a huge fight and one that would make both combatants millions of pounds.<\/p>\n
