With liveries unfurled, media duties completed, and testing wrapped up, the 2025 Formula One (F1) season is almost upon us. Ending its four-year streak, Bahrain will not host the opening race. This season, the honour returns to Melbourne, where the season will kick off with a three-day race weekend on 14 March.<\/p>\n

Having already analysed the testing showings of all 10 teams<\/a>, we are now turning our attention to something [a lot] more superficial \u2014 the cars’ liveries. Join us as we shamelessly rank the cars purely based on appearance. Let’s begin!<\/p>\n

F1 2025 Car Liveries Ranked<\/h2>\n

#10 Red Bull<\/h3>\n

Red Bull Car RB 21<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Red Bull has been following the same design philosophy for the last 20 years now. We understand the appeal of making something instantly recognizable, but it would not hurt the team to experiment a little, at least for the model collectors’ sake.<\/p>\n

Their presentation in the O2 Arena was also all over the place, with Max Verstappen<\/a> and newcomer Liam Lawson both looking visibly uncomfortable. Hopefully, the car will not look as awkward on the track in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

#9 Aston Martin<\/h3>\n

Aston Martin has been designing some fine-looking cars since coming to the grid with Lawrence Stroll. Fans expected another green storm at the unveiling at the O2, but the British team shockingly failed to live up to expectations.<\/p>\n

There are not too many changes from last year. The side-pods, mirrors, and halo have gotten a colour swap. While the mirrors and halo blend in, the black side-pod looks downright awkward. The white space to facilitate Aston Martin’s new sponsor Maaden also breaks the flow.<\/p>\n

#8 Williams<\/h3>\n

Williams has emerged as one of the most teams to watch in the F1 2025 season. Not only do they have one of the strongest driver pairings on the grid in Alex Albon and ex-Ferrari man Carlos Sainz, but they are also flush with cash after signing a massive title sponsorship deal with Atlassian.<\/p>\n

Williams’ 2025 livery is not striking, but it sure is pretty elegant. The dark-to-light-blue gradient looks pretty good and we have always liked the placement of the Duracell battery sponsorship on the engine cover. Solid effort.<\/p>\n

#7 Sauber<\/h3>\n

Sauber impressed us with their neon green paint scheme during the F1 2024 season, and we feel they have taken a step forward with their 2025 car. This year, the green is leading the dance, with black and nude carbon fibre diligently following.<\/p>\n

Of course, Sauber could have been a lot more imaginative with their application, as the fade-to-black scheme is as old as time. But the racy green is still stealing the show.<\/p>\n

#6 McLaren<\/h3>\n

McLaren MCL 39<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

McLaren ended their Constructors drought last year, winning the coveted trophy for the first time since 1998. Zak Brown and Co. do not want to tinker with what works \u2014 at least on the outside \u2014 and have released an identical car livery for the F1 2025 season. The papaya and black contrast looks cool as usual, but it would have been the standout car on the grid had McLaren added a bit more orange to the mix.<\/p>\n

The Mastercard logos on the front wing as well as the halo and the reworked driver number letterings are the most noteworthy changes this year.<\/p>\n

#5 Ferrari<\/h3>\n

Ferrari is the most successful team in F1 history, amassing the most wins and championships. The Scuderia have also delivered some jaw-dropping machines over the years, and with icon \u2014 in both racing and fashion \u2014 Lewis Hamilton joining the ranks, fans expected them to showcase a stunning-looking car at the O2 Arena.<\/p>\n

However, much to the dismay of the Tifosi, Ferrari’s 2025 challenger was not the best-looking of the lot. Sure, the switch to a deeper shade of red is a welcome change, but the omission of yellow and excessive HP branding has made the cocktail bitter. Not only does HP get a massive white block on the engine cover, but the logo boldly appears on both front and rear wings. Hopefully, the special liveries will make up for the missed opportunity.<\/p>\n

#4 Haas<\/h3>\n

One of the most improved liveries on the grid, Haas has truly hit it out of the park in the F1 2025 season. Gone is the dullness of overpowering naked carbon, Haas’ VF-25 looks stunning in this black-red-white avatar. The side-pods look especially fresh in this new guise, with red accents bringing the whole thing together.<\/p>\n

It will be interesting to see if the Haas cars look just as good on the track this season.<\/p>\n

#3 Alpine<\/h3>\n

Striking. The French F1 team has arguably produced the most eye-catching design of the lot, enabling spectators to spot the cars from miles out. After a half-hearted attempt last year, Alpine has gone all out for the F1 2025 season, finding the perfect balance for their pink and blue colour scheme.<\/p>\n

The nose is pink while most of the body is wrapped in metallic blue. Since the two colours do not blend easily, Alpine has used carbon black as the buffer. All in all, it is a very impressive design, easily one of the best the team’s produced in recent years.<\/p>\n

#2 Mercedes<\/h3>\n

Starting a new era with George Russel and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes has prepared a fine-looking car livery for the F1 2025 season. The 2024 car was already beautiful, but Mercedes has managed to bump its beauty quotient with more generous use of silver on the engine cover. INEOS’ trademark red that had adorned Mercedes for the last few years is gone, giving the halo a sleeker all-black look. Title sponsor Petronas’ teal remains eye-catching as ever, making the car look like a piece of art.<\/p>\n

Mercedes are also taking a major step towards green racing this year, with the team announcing that they will use sustainable carbon fibre on their 2025 challenger.<\/p>\n

#1 Racing Bulls<\/h3>\n

Red Bull’s sister team Visa Cash App Racing Bulls aka VCARB have been the boldest with their design, producing a completely revamped livery for the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

Using white as the base, Racing Bulls has made their cars instantly recognizable. They have also embraced their connection with Red Bull, proudly showcasing the charging bull in all its glory. There is yellow on the nose and the engine cover, with Red Bull’s recognizable blue flanking the white centrepiece.
