Thomas Tuchel’s reign in the England hot seat began with a routine 2-0 victory against Albania, and there was some early signs of intent during his maiden match in charge. Find our England players ratings vs Albania below.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite a resolute defensive performance from a steadfast Albania side – who rarely had much of the ball throughout the 90 minutes – England managed to unlock them on two occasions.<\/p>\n

The Thomas Tuchel era and 2026 World Cup qualifying began as expected, but it was a typically humdrum international affair with the odd flicker of inspiration.<\/p>\n

Early signs show more intent to move the ball quicker and with purpose, but some members of Tuchel’s first roster appeared to understand the assignment more than most.<\/p>\n

England Player Ratings vs Albania<\/h2>\n

Jordan Pickford – N\/A<\/h4>\n

There may as well have been no one between the sticks for England. Jordan Pickford had a lonely 90 minutes admiring the game from afar, facing a grand total of zero shots on target from Albania.<\/p>\n

Kyle Walker – 6<\/h4>\n

A neat performance from a man who flirted with international retirement more than once during Gareth Southgate’s tenure, and may have raised a few eyebrows after making Tuchel’s initial squad.<\/p>\n

Showed signs that he still possesses considerable pace when sweeping things up at the back, but was also fairly unremarkable going forward against a tight-knit Albania.<\/p>\n

Despite his call-up, recent odds suggest he is unlikely to be called up to England’s 2026 squad<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dan Burn – 8<\/h4>\n

Despite being fielded in an unnatural position, Dan Burn’s England debut was commanding.<\/p>\n

The Newcastle fan favourite will no doubt warm himself to the Three Lions faithful in no time, proving crucial in the air at the back and threatening in the opposition box, almost netting a debut goal after crashing a towering header off the bar in the first-half.<\/p>\n

Ezri Konsa – 7<\/h4>\n

Formed an assured, confident partnership with Burn – showed why he is deserving of a call-up.<\/p>\n

Made a stunning last-ditch tackle as the game fizzled out.<\/p>\n

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 8<\/h4>\n

Fearless. A tidy debut nutmeg goal<\/a> sees the Arsenal teenager become England’s third-youngest goalscorer behind Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney – not bad company to keep.<\/p>\n

It is easy to forget Lewis-Skelly is 18 given the way he carries himself with the arrogant self-assurance of a seasoned pro.<\/p>\n

Showed his versatility threatening as an inverted full-back as well as hugging the touchline. Hard not to see this as the start of a long, fruitful career for England.<\/p>\n

Declan Rice – 7<\/h4>\n

Quietly immaculate, a seen-and-not-heard kind of performance. Unyielding stamina from Declan Rice who looks to be a real leading figure for England.<\/p>\n

Curtis Jones – 6<\/h4>\n

Tidy in possession, drifted into some dangerous positions but often suffocated by a solid Albania low block.<\/p>\n

Jude Bellingham – 8<\/h4>\n

Provided the most attacking inspiration on a relatively quiet night for England.<\/p>\n

A fleet-footed turn before slicing through Albania with a breathtaking assist for Lewis-Skelly helped England open the scoring.<\/p>\n

Should have had one of his own with a diving header just before the half-time whistle.<\/p>\n

Phil Foden – 4<\/h4>\n

Ineffectual and looked a shadow of the player we know he is capable of being. Constantly run into dead-ends; Anthony Gordon and Jarrod Bowen deserved to come on far sooner than they did.<\/p>\n

Marcus Rashford – 5<\/h4>\n

Purposeful and sprightly, the Aston Villa man carried the ball with pace, but lacked end product and failed to beat his man.<\/p>\n

Harry Kane – 7<\/h4>\n

Plucked the ball out of the air with finesse before stroking home a delightful curling finish to double England’s lead.<\/p>\n

Also looked dangerous when picking up the ball in the ‘quarterback’ role, but requires more help and runs in behind from his supporting cast.<\/p>\n
