The Grand National is the one race a season that almost everyone takes an interest in – but what TV channel is the Aintree showpiece on?<\/strong><\/p>\n

An estimated 500 to 600 million people tune in to catch the Aintree Grand National<\/a> worldwide each year across more than 140 countries.<\/p>\n

Around 10 million of those will be in the United Kingdom and it’s believed around \u00a3200 million will be staked on the 4m 2\u00bdf handicap steeplechase at the Merseyside venue.<\/p>\n

From its first renewal in 1839, the Grand National has become of the most iconic events in world horse racing. The field of 34 runners and gruelling trip means the race can throw up the most shocking of results.<\/p>\n

What TV channel is the 2025 Grand National on?<\/h2>\n

For terrestrial TV viewers, you can catch the Grand National on ITV<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The race has been broadcast on ITV since 2017 after BBC held the rights for 52 years from 1960 to 2012, with the four in between on Channel 4.<\/p>\n

If you prefer a different style of coverage, you can also watch it on RacingTV<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The more ‘hardcore<\/em>‘ racing fans may prefer this option as the coverage is altered towards a more informed audience whereas ITV cater to the casual, ‘once-a-year<\/em>‘ punters.<\/p>\n

All three days of action at Aintree are broadcast on ITV and RacingTV<\/h2>\n

The three-day festival is fully covered by ITV and RacingTV. Both stations will show the first six races on day one, Thursday, April 3, while RacingTV will solely cover the final race.<\/p>\n

On day two, Friday, April 4, both stations will again show the first six races with RacingTV showing the seventh and final on their own.<\/p>\n

Day three, Grand National Day on Saturday, April 5 sees ITV cover the first five races before their broadcast finishes after the feature. RacingTV on the other hand will cover all seven, meaning they show all 21 at the festival.<\/p>\n
