She later studied International Relations at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly has had a varied career working as a fashion model, a columnist for Marie Claire, blogger, and public relations professional.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, she left the fashion world to become a social media manager for electric racing series Formula E.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">As per the Daily Mail she said: &#8220;<em>Fashion has always been in the background, to tell the truth. It somehow shines through in my work with Formula E.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She has often been seen in the Formula One paddock over the years. The couple announced the pregnancy on Instagram in December 2024.<\/p>\n<p>They shared an intimate black-and-white photo with the caption: &#8220;Mini Verstappen-Piquet on the way. We couldn&#8217;t be happier with our little miracle.&#8221; Reports have suggested that the baby is due in early May.<\/p>\n<p>This will be Kelly&#8217; second child, as she had a daughter from her previous relationship with Daniil Kvyat. Penelope was born in July 2019 and is now five-years-old.<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen told TIME that he has a good relationship with Penelope&#8217;s father Kvyat.<\/p>\n<p>As per GPToday he said: \u201cI\u2019m not the father, that\u2019s not the aim. It\u2019s always very important that she has a good relationship with her own father, which she has.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I see her every day when I\u2019m at home. We get on very well. She\u2019s very cute.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Kelly Piquet&#8217;s Racing Heritage<\/h2>\n<p>Kelly Piquet grew up in a family that is deeply entrenched in motorsport. Her father, Nelson Piquet Sr, is one of Brazil&#8217;s all-time great drivers.<\/p>\n<p>He won two titles with Brabham in the 1981 and 1983 season, before winning a third as Nigel Mansell&#8217;s teammate at Williams in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>Piquet Sr left Formula One at the end of the 1991 season after 207 entries and 23 wins. The final teammate of his F1 career was Michael Schumacher, who had joined his Benetton team for the final races of the 1991 season.<\/p>\n<p>However, he has been the subject of controversy in recent years following remarks about Max Verstappen&#8217;s on-track rival Lewis Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p>He was banned from the F1 paddock in 2022 and later made to pay \u00a3780,000 in damages for alleged racist and homophobic remarks towards Hamilton. He made the comments on a podcast in November 2021, when speaking about a collision involving Verstappen and Hamilton at that year&#8217;s British Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>There was also controversy surrounding Kelly&#8217;s brother, Nelson Piquet Jr who raced for Renault in 2008 and 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Piquet Jr was involved in the crashgate scandal where after being sacked by the team, he revealed that they deliberately told him to crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.
