UEFA’s price cap on away tickets for European men’s club competitions will be lowered, the federation has announced.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This means a reduction in the maximum figure clubs can charge visiting fans in the Champions League<\/a>, Europa League and Conference League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new maximum price for a Champions League away ticket will now be \u20ac60, which equates to \u00a350.55.<\/p>\n

For the Europa League<\/a>, tickets will be capped at \u20ac40, or \u00a333.70.<\/p>\n

First introduced in 2019\/20, the original UEFA price cap on Champions League games was \u20ac70 (\u00a363.50).<\/p>\n

The cap was brought in following a series of incidents the season before, with fans protesting against high ticket prices for away fans.<\/p>\n

Discussing the price cap reduction, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said: “This marks another key step in reaffirming UEFA’s commitment to enhancing the match day experience for all fans.<\/p>\n

“By introducing more fan-friendly policies, we continue our mission to keep football as an inclusive sport, where supporters who travel across Europe to follow their teams are valued and recognised.”<\/p>\n

Fan group Football Supporters Europe (FSE) was heavily involved in consultations with UEFA about the price cap reductions.<\/p>\n

Ronan Evain, of FSE, said: “The revised price caps are further recognition of how integral away fans are to the atmosphere of European club fixtures.”<\/p>\n

With fans across Europe being squeezed in all directions financially, this will no doubt be a welcome move from UEFA.<\/p>\n

Away fans are already being met with rising costs for travel, accommodation and other expenses. This reduction in prices may be small, but shows fans that UEFA is taking steps to improve supporters’ experience.<\/p>\n

While many are critical of the federation in other areas, this is one example of them getting things very right.<\/p>\n
