Having received plenty of stick for not running Constitution Hill as much as horse racing fans might have liked – connections of Constitution Hill are certainly making up for it this season as the latest entry for the former Champion Hurdler is in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot – which is, of course, run on the flat.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lambourn Cotton Wool Ditched As Nicky Henderson Could Run Constitution Hill at Royal Ascot<\/strong><\/h2>\n

With some saying Nicky Henderson had wrapped his 2023 Champion Hurdle winner up in cotton wool in the past – it’s fair to say that shares in the fluffy white stuff in the Lambourn area have certainly fallen this season.<\/p>\n

Of course, in Henderson’s defence Constitution Hill<\/strong> did have a few issues after winning the 2023 Christmas Hurdle and had to miss much of 2024 – but connections are certainly making up for it this term.<\/p>\n

He returned to see off Lossiemouth in the 2024 Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day and was then a surprise runner in the Unibet Hurdle on Trials Day at Cheltenham – winning again.<\/p>\n

However, since then the wheels have fallen off Constitution Hill a tad with two tumbles at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals – which has dented his unbeaten tag up till then.<\/p>\n

Constitution Hill To Take In The Boodles Champion Hurdle At Punchestown First<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Connections have responded by popping him over four small fences at the Seven Barrows ahead of a tilt in the Boodles Champion Hurdle<\/a> at the Punchestown Festival on Friday 2nd May – a race Henderson has won twice in the past with former Champion Hurdlers – Punjabi and Buveur d’Air.<\/p>\n

But before he’s even run in Ireland it seems Henderson and his owner Michael Buckley are already eyeing up Constitution Hill’s next race – which could be the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot<\/strong> after appearing in the entries for the Group One Ladies Day feature.<\/p>\n

Where we could get a mouthwatering clash for horse racing<\/a> lovers against the two-time Gold Cup winner Kyprios – fingers crossed.<\/p>\n

If the Constitution Hill Royal Ascot entry does come to fruition it will be the first time the horse has run on the flat – having not even raced in a NH Flat race in his career.<\/p>\n
