Chris Eubank Jr has revealed that he had to undergo surgery on his eye after being ‘headbutted’ during his historic win over bitter rival Conor Benn last Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following his victory over Conor Benn<\/a> at the Tottenham Hotspur Arena last Saturday, it has been confirmed that Chris Eubank Jr required surgery on a damaged eye as he spent two nights in the hospital.<\/p>\n

Eubank Jr sealed the iconic win via unanimous decision, with all three judges returning the same 116-112 scorecard in favour of the 35-year-old after a gruelling 12-round bout in North London.<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of the fight, Benn claimed that Eubank Jr had been admitted to hospital with a broken jaw. Promoter Ben Shalom was quick to reject these rumours though, stating that ‘Next Gen’ had gone to hospital for “precautionary checks”.<\/p>\n

Chris Eubank Jr Required Surgery After Conor Benn Fight<\/h2>\n

Speaking to Sky Sports, Eubank Jr said: \u201cWhen you get into a fight for 12 rounds, there are injuries that are sustained.<\/p>\n

“I got headbutted above my eye around the middle of the fight. It opened up, and I had to go and have surgery on that to sew it up.<\/p>\n

“Conor Benn and [promoter] Eddie Hearn ran away with the story of a broken jaw. There\u2019s no broken jaw here. We are strong. Our bones are dense.”<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cWhen you\u2019re in a fight like that, you have to go to hospital. You have to get tested and looked after, but I\u2019m feeling good and grateful that the fight was so well received.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet to confirm his next fight, ‘Next Gen’ touched on a potential rematch against Benn and also discussed the possibility of fighting Mexican superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoxing is a very beautiful industry where anything can happen. The possibilities are endless. If the rematch is meant to be, it will be. If not, there\u2019s plenty of amazing fights to be had and great things for me to achieve in this sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is another stadium filler (Alvarez fight), absolutely. Wembley, Tottenham, any one of the large football stadiums in the UK will be filled for a fight like that. He is an opponent I\u2019ve been looking at for many years now.<\/p>\n
