Mohamed Salah has been named the FWA Footballer of the Year for a record-matching third time after winning his second Premier League title with Liverpool.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mohamed Salah Named FWA Footballer of the Year<\/h2>\n

Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah has been named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year after playing a standout role in Liverpool’s Premier League title-winning campaign in Arne Slot’s first season at the club.<\/p>\n

The Egyptian received a stunning 90% of the votes, which is the biggest margin of victory for the award this century.<\/p>\n

He becomes just the second player in history to win the accolade on three occasions, matching the record held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who received his honours in 2002\/03, 2003\/04 and 2005\/06.<\/p>\n

Salah was previously crowned FWA Footballer of the Year in 2018 and 2022.<\/p>\n

Reds captain Virgil van Dijk finished second in the voting following another impressive campaign at the heart of his side’s defence, followed by Newcastle striker Alexander Isak in third and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice in fourth.<\/p>\n

Gunners striker Alessia Russo won the Women’s Footballer of the Year trophy, pipping Manchester City star Khadija Shaw to the title, while Mariona Caldentey and Millie Bright finished in third and fourth.<\/p>\n

Salah’s Incredible Title-Winning Season In Numbers<\/h2>\n

Despite the fact that he’s turning 33-years-old next month, Salah has shown absolutely no sign of slowing down this term.<\/p>\n

The winger has chipped in with a total of 33 goals and 23 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions in what has been another truly memorable season from both an individual and team perspective.<\/p>\n

He sits top of the English top-flight goalscoring charts with 28 goals, five ahead of second place Isak, while he is also top of the assist table with 18, seven clear of Jacob Murphy and eight ahead of Bukayo Saka.<\/p>\n

With 46 goals and assists in the division, the Reds legend could finish the campaign with the most goal involvements in a single Premier League season. He is currently one goal involvement behind current record-holders Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. Shearer amassed 47 goals and assists in 1994\/95, and Cole did the same a year earlier in 1993\/94.<\/p>\n

Salah has three games remaining to match or surpass the record, with Liverpool facing second place Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday, followed by an away trip to Brighton and a home tie against Crystal Palace to round off the season.<\/p>\n
