London:

There are three options in terms of direct outward flights from London to Bilbao for Tottenham Hotspur fans on Tuesday, the day before the game, with one easyJet-operated flight and two Vueling-operated flights with availability.

All departing from London Gatwick, the cheapest of the three is the 19:00-22:05 Vueling flight at £243. The 18:35-21:35 Vueling flight costs £498, while the earlier 13:55-17:00 easyJet flight costs £918.

On matchday, there are five flights with availability that arrive in time for the game. These depart from London Gatwick, London Stansted and London Heathrow, operated by Vueling, British Airways, Transavia and easyJet.

Prices of the flights range from £297 to £970, however the cheapest one, operated by Vueling, arrives in Bilbao at 18:35, so it’ll be a tight one, as that leaves just two hours and 25 minutes until kick-off.

There are plenty of options in terms of return flights to the English capital for Spurs fans, with seven direct flights with availability from Bilbao to London on Thursday, the day after the game, and one on the Friday, two days after the game.

Flights on the Thursday, heading to London Gatwick, London Stansted and London Heathrow, cost between £506 and a whopping £1,847 at the time of writing, while Friday’s sole flight to London Gatwick costs £623.

So by booking the cheapest flight out to Bilbao – Tuesday’s Vueling 19:00-22:05 flight for £243 – and the cheapest flight back to London after the game – Thursday’s 17:45-18:50 to London Gatwick for £506 – it’ll cost fans a total of £749.

Comparing flights in the week that follows the final, you can get return flights between London and Bilbao for as cheap as £93 (Tuesday to Thursday), meaning it costs 705.4% more for the cheapest return flights on the week of the game.

The cheapest place on Booking.com for one person to stay on the night of the Europa League final, Wednesday, May 21, at the time of writing, is at the All Iron Hostel. A bed in a 10-bed mixed dormitory room with breakfast included, located 1.1 miles from the city centre, costs £194.

After that, prices range from £250 in lower-rated accommodation, all the way up to £10,000 in premium accommodation.

Once again, to highlight the increase in costs for Manchester United and Tottenham fans, you can stay in hostels for as little as £15 a night in Bilbao on the following Wednesday (May 28), while hotels are available for £50-£100 a night.

Unsurprising, given the extortionate prices for hotels and accommodation in the city, many fans have opted to stay in the neighbouring city of Santander, which is around a one-hour car journey away from Bilbao. A bed in a Santander hostel costs as little as £20 on matchday, with the cheapest hotel rooms costing around £50-£200 for the night.

Of course, by taking up this option, you’d need to find transport to Bilbao in time for the game as well as back to Santander after the match, which could become costly as the game and celebrations may run past midnight.
