This Sunday’s French Derby runners 2025 will see a competitive field of 18 entries heading to post for the Chantilly Group One – headed by the Ryan Moore-ridden Camille Pissarro for trainer Aidan O’Brien.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In total there will be six UK or Irish-trained runners making the trip over (see below), plus we list an interesting ‘draw stat’ that has thrown out four winners in the last five renewals.<\/p>\n

Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien Have Only Won The French Derby Once Each Before<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There aren’t many European Group One races jockey Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien haven’t won and even though they’ve both got the French Derby on their CV’s – some might say it’s slightly surprising they only have one victory each.<\/p>\n

Yes, Moore’s only success in Sunday’s French Derby came on the Kevin Ryan-trained The Grey Gatsby back in 2014.<\/p>\n

While the sole Aidan O’Brien success in the Prix du Jockey Club was in 2021 with St Mark’s Basilica – with Spanish jockey Ioritz Mendizabal in the plate.<\/p>\n

However, the feared duo have a big chance of doubling their tallies this weekend as Camille Pissarro is the French Derby runner 2025 that the best horse racing betting sites in the UK make favourite.<\/p>\n

Camille Pissarro Has A Nice French Derby Stall\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This 3 year-old has been handed a nice draw in gate one, with four of the last five winners hailing from stalls three or lower.<\/p>\n

The Wootton Bassett colt is also no stranger to running in France.<\/p>\n

He was also seen finishing a fine third to stablemate Henri Matisse in the Group One Poule d’Essai des Poulains – which is the French equivalent to the 2000 Guineas.<\/p>\n

This will be the first time Camille Pissarro is stepped up in trip to 1m 2 1\/2f, but the way he finished last time there is every reason to think it will suit.<\/p>\n

Ballydoyle, who also run Trinity College in the race, will be hoping to win the French Derby before adding to the Aidan O’Brien Epsom Derby winners<\/a> back in the UK next Saturday.<\/p>\n
