It’s been confirmed that the 2025 Ryan Moore Derby ride will be DELACROIX, as Ballydoyle number one jockey has picked him over their two other runners in the Epsom Classic – including preferring him over the winter ante-post Derby favourite The Lion In Winter.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ryan Moore Derby Ride Will Be Delacroix In Search Of Fifth Epsom Win<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It’s official – the Ryan Moore Derby ride for 2025 will be DELACROIX – who is now set to go off as the favourite.<\/p>\n

In the early part of the season it was thought Moore would be sticking with The Lion In Winter, who had been the ante-post market leader over the winter.<\/p>\n

However, a below-par return run at York in the Dante Stakes and two solid runs by Delacroix at Leopardstown had give the four-time winner of the race a dilemma from the Aidan O’Brien Derby runners<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Delacroix has returned this season to impress in both the Ballysax Stakes and Derby Trial at Leopardstown – two races that have produced Epsom Derby winners in the past.<\/p>\n

Harzard and High Chaparral are past winners of the Ballysax to follow-up. While Sinndar, Galileo and High Chaparral (again) are examples of Leopardstown Derby Trial winners to add the Epsom Derby.<\/p>\n

Delacroix has been handed draw 14, which has a fair record since stalls were introduced in 1967 (4 wins).<\/p>\n

While Moore will be trying to become the first jockey to win the Epsom Derby three times on the bounce since the 1920’s.<\/p>\n

Having won the race last year on City Of Troy and in 2023 on Auguste Rodin.<\/p>\n

The other Aidan O’Brien Epsom Derby runners 2025<\/a> will see Colin Keane will ride The Lion In Winter and Wayne Lordan will get the leg-up on Lambourn.<\/p>\n
