Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have announced Russell Martin as their next manager. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The former Swansea City and Southampton manager has signed a three-year deal with the club.<\/p>\n

Martin, who had a loan spell at Ibrox during his playing days, was also linked with Leicester City. The former Scotland defender always had his heart set on a move to Glasgow.<\/p>\n

Russell Martin Becomes New Rangers Manager Under New Ownership<\/h2>\n

Andrew Cavenagh, leading a US-based consortium that includes the San Francisco 49ers’ investment arm, completed the Rangers’ takeover<\/a> last week. As one of the first acts of the new era, they have brought in 39-year-old tactician Russell Martin.<\/p>\n

Well aware of the weight of expectations at the club, Martin confidently vowed to bring glory days back to Ibrox.<\/p>\n

Martin said (via BBC):<\/p>\n

“From my time here, I had a taste of how special this club is, the expectation, the passion and the history. As I return, I’m determined to bring success back.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I’m here to set standards, work hard and do my very best to earn the respect of the Rangers fans. There’s a lot to be done, but the goal is clear: win matches, win trophies and give Rangers fans a team that they can be proud of.<\/em>”<\/p>\n
