Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota has died in a car accident in Spain, aged 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Liverpool’s Diogo Jota Dies In Car Accident<\/h2>\n

Diogo Jota has died after being involved in a car crash in Spain.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred at kilometre 65 of the A-52 near the Zamora region of Sanabria early on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

It is reported that the car veered off the road, causing a fire. A witness confirmed that the car was engulfed in flames, which then spread to nearby vegetation.<\/p>\n

Jota’s brother, Andre – also a professional footballer for F.C. Penafiel in the Portuguese second tier – passed away in the crash too, aged just 26-years-old.<\/p>\n

Local police confirmed the tragic incident in a statement.<\/p>\n

“We can now bring you the full statement from the Guardia Civil, given verbally, confirming the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Felipe.<\/em><\/p>\n

“The information we have so far is that the car, which was a Lamborghini, was in a road traffic accident and left the road due to a tyre blow out while overtaking.<\/em><\/p>\n

“It was in the early hours, 12.30am, in the municipality of Cernadilla in the province of Zamora. The car caught on fire and the two occupants were killed.”<\/em><\/p>\n

A statement from the emergency services in the region read: “The 1-1-2 Castilla y Le\u00f3n operations room received several calls reporting a vehicle accident at Km.<\/em> 65 of the A-52, in the municipality of Cernadilla, Zamora.<\/p>\n

“A car was reported to have been involved in an accident and the vehicle was on fire.<\/em><\/p>\n

“<\/em>1-1-2 notified the Zamora Traffic Police, the Zamora Provincial Council Fire Brigade, and the Sacyl Emergency Coordination Center (CCU) of this accident.<\/em><\/p>\n

“From there, a Medical Emergency Unit (UME) and the Primary Care Medical Staff (MAP) from the Mombuey Health Center were sent, who confirmed the death of two people on the scene.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The tragic news comes less than two weeks after Jota married his long-term girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, in Porto. They had three children together.<\/p>\n
