Several amateurs will tee it up at Royal Portrush Golf Club in on Thursday, July 17 after qualifying for the 153rd Open Championship. But who are these amateur golfers exactly?<\/strong><\/p>\n

How Many Amateurs Qualified For The 153rd Open Championship At Royal Portrush?<\/h2>\n

The fourth and final major championship of the year is finally here as all of the world’s best golfers head to Royal Portrush for the 153rd Open Championship.<\/p>\n

The likes of world number one Scottie Scheffler, defending champion Xander Schauffele and career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy<\/a> will all be in action at The Open 2025, alongside a number of amateur players.<\/p>\n

The Open Amateurs: Meet The Nine Amateur Qualifiers<\/h2>\n

Justin Hasting – 2025 Latin America Amateur Champion<\/h3>\n

Having won the 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship by a single stroke, Justin Hasting has qualified for the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush.<\/p>\n

This triumph meant that Hasting also booked his place at the at both The Masters and US Open earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Hasting missed the cut at Augusta back in April, but finished in a tie for 55th at the 125th US Open at Oakmont on a score of +15. This was enough to win the low amateur prize as virtue of being the only amateur to make the cut.<\/p>\n

Bryan Newman – 2025 Africa America Champion<\/h3>\n

At the age of just 17, Bryan Newman won the 2025 Africa American Championship in his native South Africa back in February.<\/p>\n

This win earned Newman a spot in The Open 2025 field and he will be one of the amateurs teeing it up at Royal Portrush.<\/p>\n

He will have his sights firmly set on winning the coveted Silver Medal as the low amateur at The Open Championship.<\/p>\n
