Golf fever is hitting fever pitch this week as fans ready themselves for the 153rd instalment of The Open and a remarkable video has emerged of English golfer Lee Westwood testing his memory skills my trying to name as many past Open golf winners as he can.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lee Westwood Names ALL Open Golf Winners Back To The 1970’s From Memory<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Remembering the last five, or even ten Open golf winners is something that most of us could have a good stab at – right?<\/p>\n

However, what about trying to recall the last 50 or so?<\/p>\n

We think it’s fair to say no matter how much revision you did – trying to name ALL Open golf winners back to the 70’s from memory would be a skill that would only been seen on the old TV show ‘You Bet’.<\/p>\n

However, an amazing video has hit social media on the eve of the 2025 Open Championship date<\/a> at Portrush, where former world number one Lee Westwood showcases his memory on past winners of the final major of the season.<\/p>\n

You can watch below as Westwood rattles off winners of the famous Claret Jug going back to the 1970’s – eventually ‘double bogeying’<\/em> on a player that sandwiched two wins by Tom Watson in 1976.<\/p>\n

With Westwood kicking himself he didn’t go further – when finally naming Gary Player as the 1976 winner instead of Johnny Miller.<\/p>\n

“Now we’ve got to be going towards Gary Player…..no it’s Johnny Miller. I should have got that – if you’d have said Birkdale I’d have got it”<\/em>\u00a0 said Westwood.<\/p>\n

With no event in 2020, Westwood managed to name a staggering 46 past Open golf winners on the spin.<\/p>\n
