SPOTY Betting Odds 2025: Rory McIlroy The Favourite But England Lionesses Close After EURO Win<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You can see above the latest 2025 Sports Personality of the Year betting odds with this year’s Masters winner, Rory McIlroy, the current favourite to scoop the BBC award.<\/p>\n

But only just – as after the England women’s team won the Euros, this has seen a whole host of their players shorten in the betting too.<\/p>\n

Back in April, McIlroy completed the golf Grand Slam<\/a> when winning the Masters in Augusta – which saw his SPOTY betting odds slashed into the market leader.<\/p>\n

McIlroy would become the first golfer since Nick Faldo in 1989 to win SPOTY.<\/p>\n

While keeper Mary Earps followed up in 2023, after the Lionesses got to the final of the World Cup, but lost 1-0 to Spain.<\/p>\n

Therefore, we could see a similar betting pattern this year.<\/p>\n

With England beating Spain in the Women’s EURO 2025 final, the Lionesses have started to dominate the list of favourites.<\/p>\n

The 2025 SPOTY odds on Chloe Kelly have shortened into 2\/1 – while the shootout keeper queen Hannah Hampton has burst onto the scene at 14\/1.<\/p>\n

Coming off the bench, Chloe Kelly delivered a pinpoint cross to assist Alessia Russo’s equaliser in the 57th minute.<\/p>\n

Then Chloe Kelly scored England’s winning penalty<\/a> in the final shootout – to record a 3-1 win for England.<\/p>\n

The Chloe Kelly Sports Personality betting odds are now into 2\/1 at the time of writing – from before the Lionesses historic win she was 33\/1.<\/p>\n

EURO 2025 Final Standout Hannah Hampton Emerges as a SPOTY Contender<\/h2>\n

England and Spain threw all they could at one another in the 2025 European Championship final in the summer.<\/p>\n

La Roja struck first, scoring from a header in the 25th minute. Alessia Russo equalised for England in the 57th minute.<\/p>\n

Spain would have cruised to a win had it not been for England’s wonder keeper, Hannah Hampton. She made a couple of spectacular saves on either side of halftime.<\/p>\n

Hampton proved her mettle when it mattered the most.<\/p>\n

With England trailing after the first round of shots, Hampton made a great save to deny Mariona Caldentey. Then, she produced an even better save to stop Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati’s powerful penalty. Her heroics helped the Lionesses to a 3-1 shootout win.<\/p>\n

After Hampton’s jaw-dropping performance in the Women’s EURO final, the best betting sites are giving her a chance to land the famous SPOTY title.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, she is 16\/1 to win the prestigious BBC award. Having been 50\/1+ before the final.<\/p>\n

Lando Norris Also Fancied In 2025 SPOTY Betting Odds Market<\/h2>\n

Away from Rory McIlroy and the Lionesses, British Formula One driver Lando Norris is certainly in with a shout of winning SPOTY too.<\/p>\n

He’s not quite in pole position in the market, but is still third favourite behind Rory McIlroy and Chloe Kelly at 4\/1.<\/p>\n

Norris, who drives for McLaren, has had fantastic season with seven wins and 17 podium finishes.<\/p>\n

And heading into the final race – the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 7th – is leading the drivers’ championship.<\/p>\n

Lando Norris will be looking to be the first F1 driver to win SPOTY since Lewis Hamilton in 2020.<\/p>\n

Hamilton also won the BBC Sports Personality title in 2014.<\/p>\n

While Damon Hill (1996, 1994), Nigel Mansell (1986, 1992), Jackie Steward (1973) and Stirling Moss (1961) are the other Formula One drivers to land the BBC prize.<\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy is Still The 2025 Sports Personality Betting Favourite<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Rory McIlroy is the favourite to win the 2025 SPOTY – in what looks one of the tightest BBC Sports Personality betting markets for a while.<\/p>\n

He is now 6\/5 to win the 2025 Sports Personality Of The Year Award, out from 8\/11.<\/p>\n

McIlroy created history by becoming only sixth player to win the Grand Slam in golf, when he took the Masters at Augusta in April.<\/p>\n

And as a result, he’s been propping up the market ever since.<\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy is yet to win SPOTY, but it hasn’t been a great award for golfers in recent times.<\/p>\n

The last golfer to win the BBC’s Sports Personality was Nick Faldo in 1989.<\/p>\n

The only other to win was Dai Rees in 1957.<\/p>\n
