Lee Carsley National Anthem Saga Causes Stir Online<\/h2>\n

On Friday night, England interim manager Lee Carsely admitted to the media that he will not be singing the British national anthem on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Three Lions head to Dublin to take on the Republic of Ireland, but Carsley won’t be singing the national anthem before the game.<\/p>\n

His decision has caused plenty of stir online, but Carlsey says he wants to “focus on the football” ahead of England’s clash with Ireland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the media, Carsley said: “This is something that I always struggled with when I was playing for Ireland.<\/em><\/p>\n

“The gap between your warm-up, your coming on to the pitch and the delay with the anthems. So it\u2019s something that I have never done.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I was always really focused on the game and my first actions of the game. I really found that in that period I was wary about my mind wandering off and I was really focused on the football and I have taken that into coaching.<\/em>“<\/p>\n

Twitter Reacts To Lee Carsley National Anthem Drama<\/h2>\n

Plenty have showed their support for Lee Carsley, with many saying it shouldn’t matter if he sings the national anthem or not.<\/p>\n

Some even likened the situation to former England managers such as Fabio Capello who didn’t sing it either.<\/p>\n

Lee Carsley is hired to manage England\u2019s football team with smart selections, tactics and a dash of adventure. He is not entered in \u2018 The Masked Singer\u2019. Nobody should care whether he belts out the national anthem if he gets a tune out of some gifted players.<\/p>\n
