And as is the norm with most friendlies across the world, there is no extra time in the FA Community Shield. If Liverpool and Crystal Palace are level at the end of 90 minutes, the match will go straight to penalties.<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool are 8\/13 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/betting-sites\/\">UK betting sites <\/a>to claim the win at Wembley Stadium inside 90 minutes.<\/p>\n<h3>Replays to Penalties \u2013 Changes in Community Shield Rules<\/h3>\n<p>The first FA Community Shield was contested between Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers in 1908. The game ended 1-1 at Stamford Bridge, prompting a rematch days later. In 1949, English champions Portsmouth and FA Cup winners Wolverhampton Wanderers played out a 1-1 draw in the Community Shield final. Instead of a replay, the Shield was shared between the two teams, with each team keeping it for six months.<\/p>\n<p>There were 10 more occasions of teams sharing honours before penalties were chosen as the method of resolution.<\/p>\n<h2>Five of the Last Eight Community Shield Matches Went to Penalties<\/h2>\n<p>In the FA Community Shield history, 12 games have been settled on penalties. Interestingly, five of those have come in the last eight years. Manchester United (1993, 1997, 2003, 2007, 2008), Arsenal (2017, 2020, 2023), Manchester City (2019, 2024), and Liverpool (1974) have held their nerves in shootouts.<\/p>\n<p>Man City were the last team to win the FA Community Shield on penalties.
