Two golfers have been disqualified at the 2025 Nexo Championship on the DP World Tour this week in separate incidents.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both Sam Bairstow and Calum Hill will leave Scotland with non Race to Dubai points due to costly errors.<\/p>\n

Two DP World Tour Golfers Disqualified From Nexo Championship<\/h2>\n

The Nexo Championship is underway on the DP World Tour, with Trump International Golf Links in Scotland playing host to the tournament this week.<\/p>\n

Scottie Scheffler is back in action at the FedEx St Jude Championship<\/a> over on the PGA Tour, as are a host of other elite golfers as the FedEx Cup play-offs kickstart as the golf season comes to a close.<\/p>\n

While Scheffler and co are in action over in Memphis, a host of top DP World Tour players are in action at the Nexo Championship.<\/p>\n

Two of those players are Sam Bairstow and Calum Hill, both who came to Scotland hopeful of further climbing the Race to Dubai points list this week at Trump International.<\/p>\n

However, that won’t be the case now as both players have been officially disqualified from the tournament. Both incidents are totally separate, with both Bairstow and Hill being disqualified in the opening two days of action on the DP World Tour.<\/p>\n

Sam Bairstow Disqualified From Nexo Championship For Scorecard Error<\/h3>\n

Sam Bairstow headed to Trump International Golf Links this week for the Nexo Championship amongst the favourites with golf betting sites<\/a> to win a maiden DP World Tour title this week in Scotland.<\/p>\n

However, those dream came crashing to a halt on Thursday before the conclusion of the Englishman’s opening round.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old headed to the scorer’s tent to sign what he believed to be a round of 73 (+1 par). However, it was later realised that Bairstow had in fact carded an opening round of 75 (+3).<\/p>\n

The left-handed golfer seemingly made a costly error on the par-4 14th hole. Bairstow wrong down a score of five, when in fact he had actually holed out in seven strokes.<\/p>\n

Bairstow’s confusion likely came from losing his tee shot, before then finishing the hole with his provisional ball. The Englishman couldn’t find his rogue tee shot so hit a provisional ball, which he then played on with before tapping in for what he thought was a bogey five.<\/p>\n

What’s more ironic is the fact that neither of Bairstow’s two playing partners had picked up on the error either. This means that Sam Bairstow in fact signed an incorrect scorecard, thus being disqualified from the Nexo Championship after just one round.<\/p>\n

Calum Hill Disqualified From DP World Tour Event For Failing To Hole Out<\/h3>\n

Calum Hill headed to Trump International Golf Links (Old Course) this week, hopeful of continuing his decent form as he chased a second win of the season on home soil.<\/p>\n

The Scotsman finished Round 1 of the Nexo Championship on Thursday with a 76 (+4), so was in need of a strong second round if he had any chance of making the cut.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old didn’t start well on Friday either in Round 2, sitting at +6 after nine holes. Hill knew that he needed to shoot at least three-under-par on his next nine holes, or else he would be leaving the Scottish coast without making the cut.<\/p>\n

Hill’s tournament did then end up coming to an abrupt end, but not by missing the cut. Less thank 24 hours after Englishman Sam Bairstow was disqualified for\u00a0 scorecard error, Hill was also disqualified. This time for failing to hole out on the eight hole – his 17th.<\/p>\n

The Scotsman missed a putt from nine-foot, before a couple more failed attempts at holing out from just a matter of feet. At this stage, Hill decided enough was enough and simply lifted his ball without finishing the hole.<\/p>\n

Failing to hole out simply means a straight disqualification. So within two days of DP World Tour action at the 2025 Nexo Championship, both Bairstow and Hill were disqualified.<\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump was caught cheating at golf<\/a> recently, which isn’t what happened to these two players by any means. They certainly weren’t disqualified for cheating, just costly errors and silly mistakes.<\/p>\n

This means that neither Hill not Bairstow will receive any points in the season-long Race to Dubai. Hill sits in 26th place, while Bairstow is expected to fall from 54th to 58th thanks to his costly error.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
