Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson was the hero for the Eagles in Sunday’s Community Shield win over Liverpool – saving two penalties in the dramatic shootout – and after the game rewarded loyal fans by sticking a cool \u00a31k behind the bar at a London pub.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Crystal Palace waited 164 years to win their first major trophy – when lifting the FA Cup in May.<\/p>\n

However, the Palace trophies are coming thick and fast at the moment – after adding the Community Shield<\/a> to their SE25 cabinet on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Eagles came from behind twice to see off Premier League champions Liverpool – after drawing 2-2 in normal time and taking the game straight to penalties.<\/p>\n

And it was FA Cup penalty hero Dean Henderson, who saved a spot kick from City’s Omar Marmoush in that final, that grabbed the headlines again.<\/p>\n

Dean Henderson didn’t have to do much with Liverpool’s first penalty – as, the normally reliable, Mo Salah saw his kick end up in row Z.<\/p>\n

And with Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring Palace’s first – the Eagles were in the early driving seat.<\/p>\n

Which is when Dean Henderson added to Palace’s Community Shield hopes by saving Liverpool’s next penalty from Alexis Mac Allister.<\/p>\n

The England keeper then stopped Liverpool’s fourth spot kick from Harvey Elliott – leaving Palace sub Justin Devenny to win it for the Eagles.<\/p>\n

Fresh from winning their second major trophy in three months, and among the Palace celebrations – it also emerged that shootout hero Henderson popped into a Palace pub on the way home to put \u00a31k behind the bar.<\/p>\n

Henderson was still wearing the cap he wore in the game when taking selfies with Palace fans in The Alsopp Arms, which is in Marylebone in North-West London.<\/p>\n

And to the amazement of Palace fans, Henderson also plonked a cool \u00a31k of his own money behind the bar for loyal Palace fans to carry on the celebrations.<\/p>\n

Palace fans will be hoping for more to cheer about this week too.<\/p>\n

As the club find out on Monday if their appeal to the Court Of Arbitration For Sport has been successful.<\/p>\n

For winning the FA Cup, Palace also won a place in this season’s Europa League, but with wranglings over multi-club ownership rules<\/a> were relegated down to the lesser Europa Conference League.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have appealed this decision and will find out the outcome on Monday 11th August.<\/p>\n
