{"id":60132,"date":"2025-08-18T13:29:59","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T13:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/?p=60132"},"modified":"2025-08-18T13:29:59","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T13:29:59","slug":"york-ebor-festival-queen-community-sweepstake-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/york-ebor-festival-queen-community-sweepstake-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"York Ebor Festival To Welcome Special Guest, Plus Good Causes For Community Sweepstake Revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The four-day York Ebor Festival is this week\u2019s big horse racing meeting &#8211; running from Wednesday to Saturday &#8211; and the track will be rolling out the red carpet for a special \u2018royal\u2019 guest on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Queen Camilla To Attend York Ebor Festival This Week \ud83d\udc78<\/h2>\n<p>This week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/york-ebor-festival-dates-2025-race-times-tv-schedule-tickets\/\">York Ebor Festival<\/a> is one of the big horse racing flat highlights of the season, with over 70,000 fans expected to head to the track.<\/p>\n<p>With one of those a special royal guests on Ladies\u2019 Day.<\/p>\n<p>Queen Camilla is a royal patron at York racecourse and will be in attendance at the track on Ladies\u2019 Day on Thursday 21st August.<\/p>\n<p>The RAF Falcons Parachute Display will also be on show at the Ebor Meeting &#8211; but Queen Camilla won\u2019t be making her entrance by jumping out of a plane.<\/p>\n<p>The Queen will unveil a commemorative plaque at the track to honour the 2024 Longines World\u2019s Best Race &#8211; that was awarded to the Juddmonte International Stakes.<\/p>\n<p>Where this year\u2019s race will be run on the opening day (Wednesday) and see the recent Coral-Eclipse Stakes runner-up Ombudsman as the favourite with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/betting-sites\/horse-racing\/\">horse racing betting sites<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, she\u2019ll also hook-up with the York racecourse team, members of the Yorkshire racing community and community partners.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Queen Camilla was also at the York Ebor Meeting to open the multi-million pound Bustardthorpe Development.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_60148\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-60148\" style=\"width: 696px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-60148 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/queen.jpg\" alt=\"Queen Camilla To Attend York Ebor Festival 2025\" width=\"696\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/queen.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/queen-560x365.jpg 560w, https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/queen-350x228.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-60148\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Queen Camilla To Attend York Ebor Festival 2025<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Ebor Festival Community Sweepstake 2025 &#8211; 22 Good Causes Shortlisted \ud83d\udc4f<\/h2>\n<p>There will be an added sub-plot to this year\u2019s big York meeting as they are also running the Ebor Festival Community Sweepstake 2025.<\/p>\n<p>This will see 22 good causes shortlisted, who are in with a chance to win \u00a320,000.<\/p>\n<h3>How Will The Ebor Festival Community Sweepstake Work?<\/h3>\n<p>Each \u2018good cause\u2019 will get an assigned stall number and linked to a horse running in the Ebor Handicap on Saturday (23rd Aug). The race is due off at 3:35pm.<\/p>\n<p>The draw for these pairings will be revealed at a live televised draw on Thursday 21st August. Which is expected to be shown on the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/itv-racing-schedule-today\/\"> ITV Racing schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then the \u2018good cause\u2019 that has the winning Ebor horse will scoop a \u00a320,000 donation for their charity. With the second getting \u00a35,000 and the third \u00a32,000.<\/p>\n<p>While, all is not lost for the other charities &#8211; as they will EACH get $1,000 regardless where their horse finishes.\u00a0<i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<p>James Brennan (York Racecourse) said <i>\u201cIt\u2019s been amazing to see such a high volume of entries this year, with over 170 charities and organisations from all over the county getting involved.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cWhittling down the entries is always a hard decision, as each one supports such important work.
