His role as a fullback will likely minimise his rotation risk when the Champions League begins.<\/p>\n

Target Aston Villa, Brighton, and Crystal Palace fixtures<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The fixture ticker is always a crucial factor when using a wildcard. While this week’s offerings may not be the most exciting, players like Ollie Watkins, Pau Torres, Bart Verbruggen, Jo\u00e3o Pedro, Eberechi Eze, and Jean-Philippe Mateta are all attractive options for the medium to long term.<\/p>\n

The Negatives<\/h2>\n

Limited data<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Three gameweeks gives us a nice enough shop window, but the sample <\/span>size is limited, and so any eye test scouting or data analysis comes <\/span>with the caveat that we\u2019ve only seen three Premier League<\/a> games for <\/span>each team so far. <\/span>Some teams have had easier fixtures than others, and t<\/span>herefore, it\u2019s not a level playing field when making comparisons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Along with Manchester City and Liverpool, Arsenal<\/a> look like they will be a <\/span>popular choice for FPL managers, and at times, the Arsenal double or triple <\/span>up will feel necessary. <\/span>With fixtures against Spurs and Manchester City up <\/span>next, however, those on wildcard will be tempted to swerve them, which <\/span>would be more than fair, but just know that come Gameweek 6\/7 they <\/span>have high-upside home matches versus Leicester and Southampton.<\/span><\/p>\n

Salah + Haaland might not be a long-term solution<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Catering for both Salah and Haaland<\/a> restricts the rest of your team, and knowing we only get <\/span>one wildcard before the New Year, the team structure you\u2019re building is <\/span>likely to be around for a while. Whilst Salah and Haaland drafts feel right <\/span>now, they might not be in a couple of week\u2019s time, and spreading your <\/span>funds with only one of them in your team, from Gameweek 6, for example, <\/span>could be the play.<\/span><\/p>\n

Uncertainty about Champions League rotation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Premier League teams playing in Europe will likely see more rotation than <\/span>the rest, and whilst we know more about what to expect from the likes of <\/span>Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, we know less about how Arne Slot and <\/span>Unai Emery will treat domestic games before\/after a big Champions <\/span>League tie. After a few weeks of featuring in Europe, we will likely get a <\/span>gauge for who are the bigger rotation risks and who is absolutely 100% <\/span>nailed when fit \u2013 Saka and Haaland are two safe options, for example.<\/span><\/p>\n

Can’t react to new signings<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, and Maxwel <\/span>Cornet could become legit FPL options this season, but it\u2019s too early to <\/span>gamble on these players without seeing them play for their new <\/span>sides yet. A wildcard later down the line gives us the time needed to scout <\/span>these players.<\/span><\/div>\n
