City caught a lucky break when Niamh Charles scored an own goal in the 70th minute.<\/p>\n<p>The goal, however, could not spur a turnaround, and the Blues sealed a 2-1 win. Chelsea are 3\/4 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/betting-sites\/football\/\">football betting sites<\/a> to defend their WSL crown this season.<\/p>\n<p>Brighton &amp; Hove Albion, meanwhile, had a better start on paper. Although City ultimately missed out, they had their moments and were in the contest until the end. The Seagulls created their first chance of the game through Kiko Seike, who tried her luck from range. Villa goalkeeper, Sabrina D\u2019Angelo, was perfectly positioned to collect it.<\/p>\n<p>Fran Kirby had the ball in the back of the Villa net in the 17th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Brighton found the woodwork twice in the second half, whereas Aston Villa\u2019s Lynn Wilms also hit the frame of the goal.<\/p>\n<p>It was a frustrating night for Brighton, who surely thought they deserved more from the game.
