The club refused to enter any negotiations, not even putting a price on the Argentina international.<\/p>\n<p>United boss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/manchester-united-board-back-erik-ten-hag-despite-poor-start-to-premier-league\/\">Erik ten Hag<\/a> was keen to strengthen his backline in the summer, doing so in the end by bringing in fellow Dutchman Matthijs De Ligt. 18-year-old Leny Yoro also arrived at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed that the Red Devils may go in for Romero again next summer, when he has just two years remaining on his deal at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/tottenham-hotspur-2024-25-fixtures-premier-league-europa-league-fa-cup-league-cup\/\">Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old has been highly thought of by United for a number of years now, and they were interested in recruiting him back in 2021. Romero was named as the best defender in Serie A while on loan at Atalanta.
