Conor McGregor has officially revealed he is no longer running for President of Ireland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former two-division UFC champion has withdrawn his candidacy from the Irish presidential race after consulting friends and family.<\/p>\n

Conor McGregor Pulls Out Of Irish Presidential Race<\/h2>\n

Conor McGregor remains one of the biggest names in professional sport today. Despite not having fought in MMA in over four year, the Irishman remains the most popular UFC star in the world.<\/p>\n

There has been much talk about a return to action for ‘Notorious’, with UFC betting sites<\/a> offering odds on a McGregor return in 2026. Whether or not this happens remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

However, during his time away from fighting, McGregor has focused his attentions on Irish politics. The 37-year-old announced earlier this year that he would officially run for President of Ireland in the next presidential race.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Irish presidential election takes place on Friday, 24th October, with the former two-division UFC champion previously announcing that he would be running as an independent candidate for the role of 10th Irish president.<\/p>\n

However, that is no longer the case after McGregor has officially revealed he is no longer running for President of Ireland this year:<\/p>\n

“Following careful reflection, and after consulting with my family, I am withdrawing my candidacy from this presidential race. This was not an easy decision, but it is the right one at this moment in time.<\/em><\/p>\n

“While I will not contest this election, my commitment to Ireland does not end here,”<\/em> wrote McGregor on social media.<\/p>\n

One reason for McGregor pulling out of the Irish presidential race could be due to rumours he will return to combat next summer.<\/p>\n

UFC President Dana White dropped a huge Conor McGregor fight announcement<\/a> recently, revealing that he is eyeing a McGregor return to headline the UFC White House card next July on the South Lawn.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen whether this happens or not. For now though, McGregor’s presidential run has officially come to an end.<\/p>\n
