As the 2025 Ryder Cup draws nearer, we take a deeper look at both teams and in particular the Ryder Cup team rankings so see which side has the best players. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Could The Ryder Cup Team Rankings Help Find The Winner?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

When it comes to finding the winner of the Ryder Cup there are many angles to explore.<\/p>\n

Including the record of the home side – that have won ALL of the last five Ryder Cups.<\/p>\n

But another way of hunting out the 2025 Ryder Cup winning team could simply be to look at which side has the best players – based on the current world rankings.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, we\u2019ve listed all 12 players from both the USA and European teams below with their Ryder Cup team rankings.<\/p>\n

Added them up and worked out the team ranking for each side.<\/p>\n

The Europe Ryder Cup team rankings above showcase this year\u2019s Masters winner Rory McIlroy as their best player – ranked number two in the world.<\/p>\n

When looking at the Rory McIlroy Ryder Cup record<\/a> – the Northern Irishman playing for the eighth time in the competition and heads into 2025 winning five of those.<\/p>\n

Next best is FedEx Cup winner Tommy Fleetwood, who is ranked 7th.<\/p>\n

However, team Europe only has three players ranked in the top 10 and seven in the top 20.<\/p>\n

Their total Ryder Cup team ranking comes out at 284, with an average of 23.66.<\/p>\n

However, some will clearly argue that Jon Rahm is clearly ranked higher than 73 – but playing on the LIV tour means he\u2019s not picking up ranking points and the former world number one has slipped right down the list.<\/p>\n

In contrast to the Europe Ryder Cup team, the USA players have a bundle in the top 10.<\/p>\n

These, of course, include world number one player Scottie Scheffler, who will be playing in this third Ryder Cup.<\/p>\n

The Scottie Scheffler Ryder Cup record<\/a> sees this year\u2019s Open winner with one win and one loss – but the standout stat is that he\u2019s yet to win a foursomes game at the event (2 losses).<\/p>\n

Russell Henley is next best in the USA Ryder Cup team rankings at number three in the world.<\/p>\n

In fact, the USA team has a massive seven of their 12 players currently in the top 10 ranked.<\/p>\n

Meaning 58% of the US side are currently considered the top ten players in the world.<\/p>\n

Their strength-in-depth also continues into the top 25 – with the USA Ryder Cup rankings seeing ALL of their players ranked 23 or shorter.<\/p>\n

All this equates to their overall Ryder Cup ranking at just 134 and an average of 11.16.<\/p>\n

    Therefore, based on the Ryder Cup rankings for both teams – it\u2019s the USA that are the clear front-runners.<\/p>\n

    Team USA has an average world ranking of just 11.16 – which is 12.5 less than the European average of 23.66.<\/p>\n
