As always, a competitive field will head to post for Sunday’s big race in France, with one of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe favourites looking likely to be the Aidan O’Brien-trained Minnie Hauk, who hasn’t lost a race this year.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

But with a name that might not be recognisable to some, we investigated just who the Aidan O’Brien-trained Minnie Hauk is named after and also offer a reason why she might have got her name.<\/p>\n

Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Favourite Minnie Hauk Bidding To Give Aidan O’Brien A Third Arc<\/strong><\/h2>\n

French trainer Andr\u00e9 Fabre<\/a> is the winning-most handler in the history of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with a remarkable eight wins.<\/p>\n

His first in 1987 with Trempolino and his most recent in 2019 with Waldgeist – so anything the legendary home-based trainer runs on Sunday has to be respected.<\/p>\n

But, in contrast, Aidan O’Brien is still some way adrift of Fabre, with just the two Arc successes – Dylan Thomas (2007) and Found (2016).<\/p>\n

The Ballydoyle maestro, however, looks to have a good chance of adding to those two wins – with expected Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe favourite MINNIE HAUK.<\/p>\n

This daughter of Frankel still needs to be supplemented for the race – but that is expected to happen on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Minnie Hauk has been one of the stable stars for O’Brien this season, winning four ‘Oaks’ races – the Cheshire Oaks, Epsom Oaks, Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks.<\/p>\n

And in the process has now won \u00a3981,091 in total prize money.<\/p>\n

Sunday’s race will also be shown live on the ITV Racing schedule<\/a> as she looks to break through the \u00a31m barrier.<\/p>\n

The Arc is the richest Group One in Europe and worth \u00a32,361,157 to the winner.<\/p>\n
