The odds on two players both hitting holes-in-one on the same hole when playing together is reported to be 17 million to 1 – but this lottery-style return is exactly what happened at Studley Wood Golf Club in the UK on Monday 9th September 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Steve Wilmshurst and Liam Nairn Both Hit A Holes-in-One On The Same Hole<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A friendly fourball game of golf<\/a> at Studley Wood Golf Club<\/strong> in Oxfordshire, England turned into a historic day for two players – who both fired in golfing aces on the same hole, when playing in the same foursome group.<\/p>\n

The National Hole-In-One Registry has the odds on such a feat down as a monster 17-million-t0-one – with a single player’s odds around 12,000\/1 of hitting the bullseye.<\/p>\n

Amateur players Steve Wilmshurst (58)<\/strong> and one of this three playing partners Liam Nairn (70)<\/strong> did the golfing unthinkable when tackling the 167-yard par 3 16th hole at Studley Gold Club (index 14).<\/p>\n

Nairn Had NEVER Hit A Hole-in-One Before<\/strong><\/h3>\n

70 year-old Liam Nairn, who up till this point had never recorded golf’s dream shot, was said to be “overjoyed”<\/em> – saying “I was absolutely elated because it was such a rare thing for that kind of thing to happen to me, so I was over the moon”<\/em><\/p>\n

Liam’s ball had hit the pin on the way with the players all hearing the ball go in the hole – to confirm the ace.<\/p>\n

With Nairn and his three playing partners celebrating back in the 16th tee – high fiving and cheering – it was the turn of Steve Wilmshurst to take aim once the dust had settled.<\/p>\n

Expecting to just hit one “down there – but having taken his shot, it disappearing from sight, Steve Wilmshurst just thought his ball had missed the green and would be in the nearby bunker.<\/p>\n

However, when Nairn (who hit the first ace) went to get his hole-in-one ball out of the hole, he shouted over “Oh, yours is in here as well”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

With Wilmshurst thinking it was a joke – he had to go and check and even though his ‘golf ace’ was classed a bit of an anti-climax due to no one knowing it had go in, it was still the second half of what later was worked out to be a 17-million-one double hit.<\/p>\n

Once back in the Studley Wood Clubhouse the pair signed the club’s special ‘hole-in-one’ book.<\/p>\n

While, as per tradition for hitting an ace, it was drinks all round – but at least the bar tab was split in half on this occasion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
