However, Rory McIlroy isn&#8217;t one of them.<\/p>\n<h2>Which Team Europe Ryder Cup Players Are In The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Field?<\/h2>\n<p>Having helped improve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/europe-ryder-cup-record-playing-in-usa\/\">Team Europe&#8217;s Ryder Cup record in America<\/a>, four of Luke Donald&#8217;s team are set to tee it up at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>The Alfred Dunhill Links takes place this year at the Old Course St Andrews, with four of Europe&#8217;s top performing Ryder Cup stars included in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre and Matt Fitzpatrick are the four players in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship field this week following success at Bethpage Black just last week.<\/p>\n<p>None of these appearances are on-offs either, with all four having previously featured at the Alfred Dunhill Links over the years. In fact, two of Team Europe&#8217;s stars are actually part winners.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzpatrick, who secured 2.5 points for Europe at the 45th Ryder Cup, won this event two years ago by three strokes. Hatton is the other Team Europe star who has won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship previously, on three occasions.<\/p>\n<p>Hatton is in fact the defending champion, having won the event 12 months ago on a score of -24. The Englishman also won the Alfred Dunhill Links back-to-back in 2016 and 2017.<\/p>\n<p>After going unbeaten at the 2025 Ryder Cup securing 3.5 points from his four matches, Hatton will be full of confidence as he aims to successfully defend his title this year at St Andrews.<\/p>\n<p>Both Fleetwood and MacIntyre have reasonable records too, hoping to claim the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title for the very first time this year.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Final Round Highlights | 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HyKsUJ5fxxY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Why Is Rory McIlroy Not Playing At Alfred Dunhill Links?<\/h2>\n<p>Rory McIlroy is one of Team Europe&#8217;s players who won&#8217;t be featuring at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week at St Andrews.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/rory-mcilroy-next-tournament-golf-schedule-2025\/\">McIlroy&#8217;s next tournament<\/a> is expected to be the DP World India Championship from October 16-19.<\/p>\n<p>The reason for McIlroy&#8217;s absence from the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship field is unknown, but is likely down to just wanting a rest.<\/p>\n<p>The Northern Irishman played in all five sessions for Team Europe at Bethpage Black, securing 3.5 points in the process. Now, he will have a couple weeks off before teeing it up again in New Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>McIlroy currently leads the standings in the Race to Dubai as he chases a record seventh title. Given his substantial lead, the 36-year-old can afford to take weeks off here and there on the DP World Tour.<\/p>\n<p>With McIlroy not set to feature on the PGA Tour until The Sentry in January, the five-time major champion will complete this year&#8217;s European Tour season with four more events between now and mid-November.<\/p>\n<p>The golf <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/career-grand-slam-golf-the-masters-rory-mcilroy\/\">career Grand Slam winner<\/a> has had another incredible year on the golf course, capped off by an away victory for Team Europe at the 45th Ryder Cup in New York.<\/p>\n<p>None of Team USA&#8217;s 12 players are playing on the PGA Tour or DP World Tour this week.
