John Rahm will be eligible to play in the next Ryder Cup after making an appeal against sanctions over his decision to join LIV Golf<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

John Rahm To Compete In Ryder Cup Following Appeal Over LIV Golf Issues<\/h2>\n

In order to compete in the DP World Tour events, Rahm had two selection from two options: pay the fines handed to him for defecting to LIV Golf or submit an appeal.<\/p>\n

He has now entered Dunhill Links Championship, Andalucia Masters and the Spanish Open, with the latter being the most important as Rahm submitted the appeal just before entries closed.<\/p>\n

According to a DP World Tour spokersperson said: “Jon Rahm has a pending appeal against sanctions imposed on him and in accordance with the DP World Tour’s regulations, he is eligible to participate in the acciona Open de Espana presented by Madrid later this month.”<\/em><\/p>\n

To play in next year’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage, Rahm will have to compete in four DP World Tour events in the current season (including the Olympics).<\/p>\n

According to reports, Rahm will not be paying the fines that have been handed to him for playing at LIV tournaments without permission – with LIV Golf Chicago<\/a> coming up.<\/p>\n

Tyrell Hatton, the partner to Rahm at the Ryder Cup has also in conversation with the British Masters and appealed his fines.<\/p>\n

Rahm spoke on his fines, saying: “I’m not a big fan of the fines. I don’t intend to pay the fines and we keep trying to have a discussion with them (the DP World Tour) about how we can make this happen.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I intend to play in Spain. Whether they let me play or not is a different thing.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Luke Donald, the captain for team Europe, heard about the news over Rahm’s appeal and was happy about the Spaniard’s decision.<\/p>\n

Donald said:\u00a0 “From my standpoint very happy to hear he made that decision,” Donald said. “I know he was sitting on the fence a little bit.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Very glad that he’s done that to allow him to play and create some time for things in the world of golf to hopefully figure themselves out.”<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
