With a whole host of boxing events scheduled around the world every week, there are several fighters worth watching this weekend from the UK and across the pond in America.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join us as we outline five key fighters to keep an eye out for and tune in to watch this weekend from the world of boxing.<\/p>\n

The five fighters are set to feature on two different boxing shows across both in the US this weekend, with stellar shows in both Texas and Florida.<\/p>\n

Fighters To Watch In The World Of Boxing This Weekend<\/h2>\n

With numerous cards all across the globe this weekend in the world of boxing, there are so many elite fighters in action.<\/p>\n

Whether it be in the UK, America or elsewhere, a whole host of fighters and potential champions lace up their boxing gloves in an attempt to progress their career to the next level.<\/p>\n

This includes Vergil Ortiz Jr, who headlines against Erikson Lubin in a thrilling contest for the WBC Interim World Super-Welterweight Title.<\/p>\n

There are some intriguing contests on the Ortiz vs Lubin undercard too, with Darius Fulghum, David Stevens, Robin Sirwan Safar and more all in action prior to the 154-pound main event contest.<\/p>\n

There are another two intriguing battles in Florida including undefeated fighters Katsuma Akitsugi and Delante Johnson on the same card, with Nicklaus Flaz also in action.<\/p>\n

It’s a quiet weekend of boxing in the UK, with no major shows from Matchroom, Queensberry or Boxxer. There is a GBM tournament on in Hull that could be worth watching called ‘The Heist’, available to watch exclusively on DAZN.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, here at SportsCasting<\/em> we have outlined five boxers to watch this weekend featuring on two different shows in the early hours of Sunday morning (BST).<\/p>\n

Although there mightn’t be any elite fighters from the pound-for-pound boxing rankings<\/a> in action, there are some huge talents looking to impress and showcase their skills on the biggest stages.<\/p>\n

So without further ado, here are five fighters to keep and eye on this weekend from the world of boxing.<\/p>\n

Boxers To Watch This Weekend<\/h2>\n

Vergil Ortiz Jr<\/h3>\n

First up on the fighters to watch this weekend from the world of boxing is undefeated light-middleweight contender Vergil Ortiz Jr.<\/p>\n

Ever since his professional debut, there has been a serious amount of hype around the American. Originally competing at welterweight, Ortiz has since moved up to 154-pounds and has looked like he could be the very best fighter on the planet at the weight.<\/p>\n

Although he is yet to win an official world title, he is certainly knocking on the door. His fight this weekend against two-time world title challenger Erikson Lubin is another tough one, but one he is favoured to win.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old won his first 21 consecutive fights via stoppage, but his two best wins have both actually been via decision in his last two contests.<\/p>\n

Ortiz Jr defeated Serhii Bohachuk in August 2024, showing real guts in getting up off the canvas twice having been dropped on two separate occasions. Ortiz still won the fight, showing just how good a fighter he really is.<\/p>\n

He then put on a career best performance last time out against Israil Madrimov, who came close to beating the three-weight undisputed king Terence Crawford.<\/p>\n

Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr labelled Crawford unbeatable<\/a> in the aftermath of his famous ‘Canelo’ victory, so the fact Ortiz Jr beat Madrimov comfortably who previously ran ‘Bud’ close speaks volumes.<\/p>\n

Once again defending his interim WBC World Super-Welterweight Title, Vergil Ortiz Jr is the best fighter in action this weekend across the globe and is worth watching with intent.<\/p>\n

He is in a tough fight with Lubin, but win this and Ortiz simply has to be granted a full world title shot next. No exceptions.<\/p>\n
