Cole Palmer has been sensational for Chelsea since arriving in 2023.<\/p>\n

The former Manchester City man swapped the Etihad for Stamford Bridge, and hasn’t looked back since.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League tie against Azerbaijani side Qarabag this week, Maresca has provided a positive update.<\/p>\n

The Italian boss hopes to have Palmer back in time for games against Barcelona and Arsenal later this month.<\/p>\n

Maresca has faced a lot of pressure at Stamford Bridge since joining from Leicester, only ever feeling like one bad run of result away from some fans calling for his head.<\/p>\n

The next Chelsea manager odds<\/strong><\/a> don’t indicate that a change is imminent from owner Todd Boehly, but high-profile losses to Barcelona and Arsenal could quickly change things.<\/p>\n

Maresca will therefore hope to have Palmer available for those two tricky fixtures.<\/p>\n

Palmer is yet to return to training after picking up a groin issue in September, with Maresca confirming the England international will miss this week’s game.<\/p>\n

But asked if Palmer will return to face Barca after the international break, the manager was more upbeat.<\/p>\n

He told Tuesday’s press conference:\u00a0“We hope so but with Cole, we try to schedule the beginning and then we need to review that.<\/p>\n

“We go day by day with Cole. He is not taking any sessions with the team.<\/p>\n

“To be honest, I would like to have Cole here tomorrow. We’d like to have Cole every game. I’ve said many times that we are a better team with Cole.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately for us it’s out, it’s injury, but for sure we want him back very soon.”<\/p>\n
