{"id":71813,"date":"2025-12-06T22:39:06","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T22:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/?p=71813"},"modified":"2025-12-07T08:52:33","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T08:52:33","slug":"peterborough-chase-runners-betting-odds-huntingdon-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/peterborough-chase-runners-betting-odds-huntingdon-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Djelo All The Rage To Defend Peterborough Chase Crown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sunday&#8217;s Grade Two at Huntington will only see a handful of Peterborough Chase runners &#8211; which will give last year&#8217;s winner Djelo a huge chance of winning the \u00a345k first prize again.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Djelo Will Be Hard To Beat For Peterborough Chase Repeat<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Twelve months ago the Venetia Williams-trained <strong>DJELO<\/strong> romped away to a six-length win in the Peterborough Chase.<\/p>\n<p>And with his year&#8217;s race looking less competitive the best horse racing betting sites are saying he&#8217;s all the rage to follow-up.<\/p>\n<p>Last year Djelo was rated just 149 and had to face the 166-rated Protektorat, getting just three pounds.<\/p>\n<p>However, he slammed the Dan Skelton horse and as a result has shot up the ratings to now be at 163 coming into Sunday&#8217;s big <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/itv-racing-schedule-today\/\">ITV Racing<\/a> contest.<\/p>\n<p>The opposition this year looks thin on the ground again though &#8211; and so it&#8217;s no shock to see the seven year-old odds-on in the market.<\/p>\n<p>Djelo also heads to Huntingdon in winning form after a gutsy success in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby (watch below).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WATCH: Djelo Winning The Peterborough Chase in 2024<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><iframe title=\"Djelo denies Pic D&#039;Orhy in thrilling Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby | Racing TV\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LzZldY7b9mU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Connections have given Djelo 36 days to get over that last race and will head into Sunday&#8217;s contest as the top-rated (163) &#8211; providing Jonbon runs in the Tingle Creek Chase as planned.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 win gave trainer Venetia Williams her first Peterborough Chase success.<\/p>\n<p>And if Djelo can follow-up on Sunday would be the first<em> &#8216;back-to-back&#8217;<\/em> winner since Racing Demon in 2006 and 2007.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s worth pointing out Top Notch has won two Peterborough Chases since (2017 and 2019) &#8211; just not in consecutive seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Racing Demon &#8211; this was a race the classy former King George VI Chase winner Edredon Bleu used to like.<\/p>\n<p>He won the prize four times between 1998 and 2001. Both horses were trained by Henrietta Knight, who also won this race with Impek (2005) and three-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Best Mate (2002).<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s the joint winning-most trainer (eight wins) with Nicky Henderson.<\/p>\n<p>You can see if Djelo can defend his Peterborough Chase crown on Sunday at 3pm &#8211; live on ITV4.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2025 Peterborough Chase Race Details<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\ud83d\udcc5Date: Sunday 7th December 2025<br \/>\n<span class=\"JCzEY tNxQIb\"><span class=\"CSkcDe\">\u231aTime: 3:00pm<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n\ud83c\udfc7Racecourse: Huntingdon<br \/>\n\ud83d\udd04Trip: 2m4f<br \/>\n\ud83d\udcb7Winning Purse: <span class=\"NA6bn BxUVEf ILfuVd\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hgKElc\">\u00a3<\/span><\/span>45,560<br \/>\n\ud83d\udcfa TV: ITV4 \/ Racing TV<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Who Are The Likely Peterborough Chase Dangers To Djelo?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are four other Peterborough Chase runners looking to take on Djelo.<\/p>\n<p>With Jonbon a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/tingle-creek-runners-and-betting-sandown-2025\/\">Tingle Creek Chase runner<\/a> at Sandown on Saturday &#8211; he&#8217;ll miss this race now.<\/p>\n<p>But Edwardstone will head to Huntingdon and will be looking to turn back the clock at the age off 11.<\/p>\n<p>However, his last win was in Feb 2024 &#8211; ten runs back and was well beaten last time in the Shloer Chase.<\/p>\n<p>Willie Mullins will bring over Saint Sam though and being rated 160 this looks to add a bit of oppo to Djelo.<\/p>\n<p>Meaning this Irish raider only has to find three pounds with the Venetia Williams horse.<\/p>\n<p>He was last seen running Found A Fifty close at Fairyhouse in April and hasn&#8217;t finished out of the first two in his last seven.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Sam certainly looks the main danger.<\/p>\n<p>The Dan Skelton-trained Boombawn will run too and will get three pounds off Djelo.<\/p>\n<p>But is still rated 11lbs inferior to last year&#8217;s winner &#8211;
