Gaming Council after the club\u2019s public display of support for a responsible gambling campaign.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2025 Club World Cup champions took to social media last month to help publicise Safer Gambling Week, which ran from November 17 to 23.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea struck a partnership with sportsbook Betway last season to be the club\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/supergroup.com\/betway-becomes-european-betting-partner-of-chelsea-fc\/\">Official European Betting Partner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Blues don\u2019t have a front-of-shirt sponsor, but Betway\u2019s logo and advertising is displayed around Stamford Bridge on match days.<\/p>\n<p>Betway is one of the sports betting and iGaming Brands owned by global operator Super Group.<\/p>\n<p>The official thumbs up for Chelsea has landed at a time when the future of Enzo Maresca is being questioned.<\/p>\n<p>After the latest downturn in form there is already speculation around who could be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/next-chelsea-manager-betting-odds\/\">next Chelsea manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Backing A Safe Bet At The Bridge<\/h2>\n<p>Chelsea posted one of Safer Gambling Week\u2019s promotional images to the 25 million followers of their official X account on November 19.<\/p>\n<p>The message accompanying it read: \u201cWe are proud to work with our partner Betway and support Safer Gambling week.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We are proud to work with our partner <a src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Safer Gambling Week is an industry-led initiative which promotes responsible betting.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event highlights how players can set deposit and time limits on their betting activity along with other more forceful tools such as GAMSTOP\u2019s self-exclusion scheme.<\/p>\n<h2>BGC Give Thanks To The Blues<\/h2>\n<p>In the Betting and Gaming Council\u2019s (BGC) review, the standards body revealed that this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/bettingandgamingcouncil.com\/news\/safer-gambling-week-sets-new-benchmark-with-record-engagement\">Safer Gambling Week had set new records for engagement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSafer Gambling Week 2025 has delivered its strongest results to date, generating more than 80 million impressions across X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNewly released data from the campaign, which ran from 17 to 23 November, shows a significant 40% increase on last year\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-73341\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/Safer-Gambling-Week-2025-560x373.jpg\" alt=\"Safer Gambling Week 2025\" width=\"560\" attracted significant political support, with a record number of senior cross-party MPs and peers lending their backing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong them were Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow DCMS Secretary Nigel Huddleston MP, and Shadow Gambling Minister Louie French MP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s campaign again received full endorsement from the Gambling Commission and its Chief Executive, Andrew Rhodes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChelsea FC was among the well-known football clubs to support Safer Gambling Week this year, sending the safer gambling message out to its 25 million followers on X.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Betway Banned From Using Chelsea\u2019s Badge<\/h2>\n<p>Betway landed itself in hot water with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in October.<\/p>\n<p>Somebody had reported the firm to the ASA after Chelsea\u2019s badge could be seen in one of its YouTube adverts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.asa.org.uk\/rulings\/betway-ltd-a25-1292429-betway-ltd.html\">The ASA ruling on Betway<\/a> noted that the pre-roll ad \u201cseen on 17 May 2025, featured football fans wearing clothing and scarves with the Chelsea FC logo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The UK-licensed betting firm argued that as the London club\u2019s Official European Betting Partner it had a contractual right to use the logo for an advert that was targeted at over-25s.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-73339\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/chelsea-betway-1-560x322.jpg\" alt=\"Chelsea and Betway\" https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/chelsea-betway-1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The ASA declared that it did not regard YouTube as safely safely age restricted.<\/p>\n<p>Children can use a false date of birth when setting up an account.<\/p>\n<p>As such, advertisers cannot guarantee that their content would exclude under-18s.<\/p>\n<p>That is a problem beyond Betway\u2019s control.<\/p>\n<p>The firm countered, saying banning the advert could set a &#8220;damaging precedent for gambling sponsorships in sport&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea even spoke up on Betway\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n<p>The club said it works with all its partners to ensure compliance with standards and practices across the industry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our collaboration with Betway was no exception,&#8221; said a spokesperson.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Both parties believed the content of this advertisement was fully compliant and adhered to all guidelines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Betway\u2019s appeal fell on deaf ears and the ASA ruled that the ad should not appear again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chelsea
