January can prove a crucial moment in a club’s season as they look to manoeuvre their way in the transfer window.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deals are notoriously difficult to conclude, with teams slapping huge price tags on assets and other sides willing to spend big to achieve their pre-season ambitions.<\/p>\n

For players whose contracts are set to expire, they can hold all the power heading into the January window.<\/p>\n

Premier League players who have deals until the end of the season can sign a pre-contract with a European club before leaving on a free transfer.<\/p>\n

Others can bide their time and wait for the most lucrative offer, an option which could be even more enticing with a World Cup around the corner.<\/p>\n

Five Notable Premier League Players Out Of Contract In 2026<\/h2>\n

Marc Guehi<\/h3>\n

It’s little secret that the Crystal Palace defender will leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s dithering over the summer has allowed a whole host of clubs to throw their names in the mix for the England central defender.<\/p>\n

Guehi won’t be short of options across the Premier League and Europe’s biggest clubs. Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich<\/a> are three of the names most strongly linked, but there will be a whole host more.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old has played a blinder in dealing with his future.<\/p>\n

He showed complete professionalism at Crystal Palace during the Liverpool transfer saga in the summer, which will only help his cause, plus he can hold out for a giant signing-on fee.<\/p>\n

Ibrahima Konate<\/h3>\n

Konate’s future will be an intriguing development, and it leaves Liverpool in somewhat of a difficult position.<\/p>\n

The centre back has come in for criticism this season, and there are question marks about whether he has the quality to be a regular in Liverpool’s defence going forward.<\/p>\n

Some of the criticism may feel unwarranted, particularly as Virgil van Dijk’s form has also been questionable, but he’s shown his capabilities in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

If Liverpool allows Konate to leave, they will leave themselves precariously short of central defensive options. Van Dijk turns 35 in the summer and in the tail end of his career.<\/p>\n

Joe Gomez can’t be relied on due to his ongoing injury record, and therefore heavy investment will be required once again.<\/p>\n

Konate was previously linked with Real Madrid<\/a>, and allowing him to leave for free will mean sacrificing any transfer funds required to invest back into the backline.<\/p>\n

Marcos Senesi<\/h3>\n

Bournemouth’s reliable centre-back has rejected three contract offers<\/a> at the club and is therefore braced to leave for nothing.<\/p>\n

He has been one of the Premier League\u2019s most consistent performers over the last 24 months and has been instrumental to the club\u2019s impressive rise.<\/p>\n

Juventus, AC Milan and Roma have all been previously linked, as have Real Madrid and Real Sociedad. A pre-contract signed in January is a distinct possibility unless Senesi wants to remain in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Newcastle have been touted as a potential destination with Eddie Howe looking for long-term options at the back.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth have been the victims of their own success in the transfer window. In the summer, they saw their entire backline dismantled with Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, and Ilya Zabarni all making big-money moves.<\/p>\n

According to Sky Sports, they’re already in the market for a replacement, but they’ll have big boots to fill.<\/p>\n

Harry Wilson<\/h3>\n

He’s one of the Premier League’s most in-form players at the moment, and it’s come at a perfect time for Wilson.<\/p>\n

The attacking midfielder has scored three and assisted three in his last four league matches, which will have top-flight suitors paying close attention.<\/p>\n

At the age of 28, Wilson could represent a real bargain should he opt against agreeing to a new deal.<\/p>\n

Fulham boss Marco Silva recently addressed the situation and revealed they were working on agreeing a new contract. He said: “About the contract, let\u2019s hope \u2013 if we can renew with him, it\u2019s going to be very good news for the club, for our fans.<\/p>\n

“The club and his representatives are speaking about it. Let\u2019s hope we can have news soon.”<\/p>\n

Wilson also commented on his situation and was non-committal on his future by adding: \u201cI\u2019m fully focused on playing. I play football because I love the game, and wherever I am, it\u2019s got to be somewhere where I\u2019m going to play.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully scoring and assisting, I\u2019ve been able to do that\u00a0the last couple of months\u00a0& then whatever happens\u00a0after that happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vitaly Mykolenko<\/h3>\n

The Everton left-back is an important figure in David Moyes’ side but his future remains in serious doubt beyond the season.<\/p>\n

Having joined the Toffees in 2022, the 26-year-old is an established Premier League left-back – a position which has always been difficult to recruit for.<\/p>\n

Interest has reportedly mounted from abroad, but the club are eager to entice him with a new deal, having seen Jordan Pickford and James Tarkowski recently extend their stays.<\/p>\n

Everton signed 19-year-old Adam Aznou in the summer, but the Moroccan international has yet to make his senior debut and is obviously deemed not ready to make the step up.<\/p>\n
